Murray drops down to 4th because while he's a quality prospect and someone immediately ready for the NHL, he doesn't have the high-end potential required to become a #1 defenseman.

Calling Teravainen a smurf is short sighted... He is 5'11" and the youngest player in the Draft.

He probably ends up 6'0"-6'1" and 190-195 lbs. Hardly small.

Also, Canes don't need another D. Their top prospects are all D. I have them taking Grigorenko or Teravainen.

that and the habs are not taking reinhart with the 3rd...thats a guarantee
I see CBJ grabbing Murray with the 2nd after the way he played at the worlds and the Habs Gally with the 3rd and no way Grigorenko slips that far after teams skipped on Couturier for many of the same reasons last year

Your draft order is a bit off. Canucks have the 26th pick, due to winning the NW div. and the PT. Certainly wouldn't mind of they took Koekkoek at 26, though. Wilson and Sissons would be my other choices.

No way in H-E double hockey sticks Grigs drops to 11th and Dumba to 14th. Reinhart will not be selected before Murray and therefore will not be a top 5 pick unless the Isles take him.

I don't see Grigorenko falling to 8th.

I haven't read much about bystrom. Id almost prefer the oilers trade omark and our 2nd rounder to move up 5 or so places. The. Trade Hemmer for anyone willing to part with a 1st. Would buffalo be willing to trade nashvilles pick? Perhaps Boston?

Couturier dropped to 8th. Fowler to 12th and gormley to 13th. You can disagree but anything is possible with players who have big question marks.

However I agree in that I also can't see Reinhardt cracking the top 5. I can see te leafs taking a dman or perhaps taking a leaf of faith on faksa. Drafting Kitchener rangers usually works out well.

Edit: I understand leads are ok with d but I think they shop schenn for their big forward and pick a potential top pairing guy to play with Gardiner

I'm curious what you think about this Richard...let's say theoretically, Hall, Nuge, Eberle, and Nailz all turn into huge, top ten scoring all-stars over the next couple of years. It would be maybe the most extreme example of the 'Big Three to Five' situations we see now with teams under the cap, i.e. how to keep it together and still have the rest of the team. I'm thinking of Tampa before Richards left, Pittsburgh over the next couple of years with Sid and Malkin et al, maybe San Jose and Anaheim are similar.

Basically it seems under the cap teams struggle to keep a big 3 to 5 under the cap. If the Oil indeed have four super elite forwards with huge contracts, is it inevitable they have to move one for a Big D and G? And WHEN do they do that? Do they do it NOW, or keep all these four guys and see who turns out best, then do it when they're up for a contract? If it's inevitable, at this point in time who do you think is most likely to be moved?

Let Nail play a season or two, evaluate how things are going, and then make a decision as to who goes/stays...

Murray looks like a Ryan Suter type, while Reinhard looks Weber-lite. I don't think you could go wrong with either. I like Ceci, big offensive defenseman. I wouldn't mind trading down if we can get mutiple assets.

I agree. At that point all of these guys will have had two years to evaluate. Plus, if they are that good, the Oil may be a team that is simply so good up front that they can fold in a solid, platoon like D from their own prospects and other avenues that they could be very good even without a major move.

I'm usually a big fan of your work but you gotta do your homework before doing this stuff Clouts. Nobody goes off the board on a top five pick. You have to be out of your mind to think that Montreal will take Reinhart at 3. He is not the best available talent and if Montreal really wanted him, they could just trade down and get him. As for the Shea Weber thing, you can attribute most of his success to the Nashville Predators player development system, he was no where close to being on pace for what he is now when he was drafted. If they were the 7th or 8th pick I'd understand but no way are they taking Reinhart over Murray/Grigorenko. Speaking of Grigorenko...11th...really? I don't care how questionable his work ethic/attitude is, his talent is far better than anyone in this draft besides Yakupov and Galchenyuk. Sure he may not be a franchise player but he'll be a damn good hockey player. It's funny, they questioned Malkin's work ethic leading up to that draft, wonder how that turned out. And lastly, check your math, the Sabres have the 21st pick not the 25th...

He would be my 2nd choice after Galchenyuk. I'm not convinced either makes it to 5th. I don't see Montreal taking a defenseman so its going to be tough. But stranger things have happened I suppose.

And how did that work out? I'm just saying that given the state of their franchise they won't be going off the board as it very rarely works out...
