Enstrom would be a great addition especially if the Carle negotiations fall apart. Wonder what it would cost? Being the Jets I would think a young forward like Read and a pick/prospect would be a start.
Then next year resign Kimmo for a modest salary...

If I were Kevin Cheveldayoff, I would insist on either JVR or Schenn. Then again, if I were Holmgren, I'd want to be sure Enström is willing to sign long-term before I'd discuss dealing either JVR or Schenn. |

That's what I was scared off. JVR or Schenn...I'd be more apt to trading one of those two for a deal that brings back weber. Mind you if we traded both of them and brought back Weber and Enstrom for a long term signing, I'd be okay with that too. - I know this last point would be tough to swallow. |

Great read bill, and all i have to say about enstrom is yes, yes , & yes. I have always been a fan of tobias. His skill def makes up for his lack of size. By going that route it make it possible to sign parise or another ufa forward. |

Nice thought Bill....
IMHO, if the Jets are holding out for JvR or Shenn, then move along.
If the deal could be done for Read and a 2nd or 3rd.....that is another story.
Long term, Kimmo's nearing the end and Pronger may already be there. The only downside to Endstrom would be his size and he has proven that even that isn't a complete liability. The only thing that would make him more attractive in the long run would be if he was a right handed shot....that is something that the Flyers have needed from the point since Rico hung them up. |

Depends on Enström's signability, IMO. As a one-year rental, no way. But if he'd be willing to sign long-term, I'd seriously consider it.

I totally understand what your saying Bill but why not wait until the end of next year and possible trade for his rights or go after him in UFA. I know there would be other teams bidding also but you dont lose any players like JvR or Schenn. If that fails they still can go after Edler or White.
I like Enstrom a lot just not sure I trade JvR for him straight up. Of course this is based off the Flyers being desperate for a defenseman this offseason. |

If Rick Nash is dealt this month, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Post Dispatch has compiled a list of likely destinations. Portzline's list in order is as follows: 1. Rangers 2. Sharks 3. Maple Leafs 4. Bruins 5. Hurricanes 6. Capitals. He also doesn't believe that any deal will absolutely involve a goaltender coming to Columbus. This should get interesting and we will keep you up to date on all the Nash trade talk, which is sure to increase as we draw nearer to the NHL entry draft.

That would be my issue, he isn't signed long term. |

As much as i think he would be a great fit...hes way too expensive for my taste. I mean if your willing to spend that kind of coin...why not take a shot for nash. I just dont see the flyers giving anybody that much this year unless its a top 5 D guy. |

I think I'd rather get Byfuglien if we're to give up Schenn or JVR. I know a lot of people knock his defense but he's been improving each season (only 2 NHL seasons playing defense full time) and he's a great point on the PP. Massive size and fun to watch play IMO. |

"Enström, 27, has one season to go on his current contract with Winnipeg, and is a potential unrestricted free agent after the 2012-13 season. His current contract carries a cap hit of $3.75 million." - bmeltzer
Any guess on how much his next contract would be worth? If we were to trade for him, are we looking at a little north of $3.75, or a lot north of it. |

Colorado just traded the farm for him. He's basically untouchable. Not to mention they need D to.
Who do the Flyers have that's undersized? |

carle timonen and gustafsson - flyerscup2011
Matt Carle is 6'0, 205llbs
Kimmo and Gus, yeah. But Timonen has been a top pairing d man for how long now? His size has never inhibited his success.
Gus is learning the NHL game and looked like a stud dman the way he was defending Malkin in the 1st round. He actually got caught on the ice against Malkin and completely shut him down. Lava actually intentionally put him out 2 or 3 more times against Malkin in the same game and Gus gave Malkin nothing. Malkin is a (frank)ing horse, and embarrasses smaller dmen all the time who are even bigger then Gus.
My point is is that size is not an issue with our d, and adding a guy like Enstrom when your likely subtracting Kimmo in a years time makes it a non-issue. |
