If Sullivan would sign for one year, he would look good on that 3rd line as you mentioned. He's played the point on the PP quite often too, no? Might free up Bergy to work down low where he's better suited.

Ty, Regular season stats are impressive, but...., it's a timely PP that takes advantage of momentum swings during the game. Against the Caps, they were given, again, timely Power Plays ( especially game 7 ) only to put on a bantam hockey type passing clinic! I've been on here quite a few times saying they need a play making sniper, even Neely said so this past May.

Ty who do think they'll end up with? I for one would like to see either Holmstrom, Sullivan, or Jagr manning a shift on the PP.

I think the first thing they need to do with the PP is change the scheme. Quit trying to force the one-timer to Z and move a little bit. I firmly believe that they have enough talent to be successful on the PP. For christ sake, Nashville had the best PP in the league, it's not like they're overflowing with offensive game-breakers.

I'm sure they would like to sign someone, but next years free agents limit it to a one year deal IMO.

True, someone should be able to take the reins and create an opportunity or two! The reality is, they truly miss Savard ( As do I ) in the mix. Right now it's a one dimensional PP, so is there a Savard like player out there?

I think they'd be more inclined to let Horton walk if they need room than to move Krejci, unless Seguin gets big minutes and proves himself as a center this year. Unless someone gets hurt I'm not sure that happens.

Between Horton and Thomas, that's $9M off the books. I think (unless they have monster years) you're looking at a cumulative increase in the $5M range for Lucic (maybe a bump to high 4's), Seguin (maybe $4M guaranteed, not a huge bump from his ELC and cap hit with bonuses), Marchand ($3ish I would guess), and Rask (who knows but I'd guess $4-5). So end of the day Thomas out and those 4 guys re-upped and you're at a wash.

Obama's old stomping grounds? Thomas would never play there

I wouldn't mind Sullivan in Boston, but I think they should go younger for the 3rd line. That line already has the defensive minded forwards in Pevs and Kelly, a young 15-20 goal scorer would be a great help. The guys I would look to if PC wants to add scoring depth would be Mueller, AK46, or Huselius. I know both Mueller and Huselius have had concussion problems, but you offer them a 1 year contract, and if they get hurt you put them on LTIR and let them walk at the seasons end. Mueller has a lot of skill, and if he could stay healthy it would be an absolute steal IMO. Lastly I know AK46 has a reputation of being lazy, he has shown his skill sets many a times against the Bs. If he could buy into the system and accept a role as a 3rd line winger he could really put up some respectable numbers.

Contrary to what you may hear, David Krejci's not in play. Peter Chiarelli really, really loves this core, and he doesn't want to make a major move unless the offer is too good to pass up. I think he wants to see how Krejci reacts to the first year of his new deal before deciding that he's not a good fit. Keep in mind Krejci had a career-high in goals last year, and clearly wasn't right after being bonked by the glass. I think PC knows that and wants to see how he responds this year.

It's a pure gut feeling, but I think Sullivan's their guy. A bit smaller than Whitney, but the smarts and resume is there when it comes to providing a legit presence on the third line wing.

Nailed it. Bruins want to keep this core together, so expect them to stay away from long-term commitments and try to get long-term deals with 2013 pending FA's (Lucic, Seguin, Marchand, Horton, and Rask) during the season, very similar to what they did this past year.

Peter Mueller can be a great bargain and high-reward signing for a club. I'm not a huge AK46 fan, but I'm not a hater either. I think he brings an underrated physical element -- at least I thought he did these past two years -- and could be a great fit. Great options there.

Sullivan to Coyotes, so he's out.

I really think a team will take Thomas' contract. If the cap floor stays at $54.2 there are a handful of teams flirting with $10mil below it. Add in the fact that there is not a lot of free agent talent left, either a team like the Preds is going to massively overpay some bad players or maybe they will take $5mil from the Bruins.

Even if the Bruins don't use the money this summer, there is no telling if they would need the cap space at the trade deadline.

He's one of those guys I just can't see leaving Detroit.
