The Karlsson HoldUp Explained The big Domino here is Nylander and Toronto. i believe the Sharks like the Leafs package the most, but so far only Pittsburgh and Carolina have actually figured out ways to make the money work. The Leafs can’t consider this without moving Nylander…and unfortunately for them…everyone knows this…there is no immediately rush yet…

Have to think with Pitt or Carolina the middle team to take on money would Chicago, but would Chicago get in return from either team to make it worth while for them to take all that money on. Thoughts?

I suspect that whomever gets him is going to end up deeply regretting it. Looking at his numbers over the past 5 seasons '22-'23 is a pretty large outlier both in production and games played. Maybe he finally got healthy and it will continue on for a few years.

I'm no expert on the Pens but I personally don't understand how he fills much of a need for them when they've doled out term to Letang. It seems a lot like Dubas' Pens version of the Tavares signing. Commit a bunch of resources to solve a problem (2C) that doesn't exist or at least is a lower priority. Kadri had 32 goals in each of the 2 seasons preceding Tavares' arrival, 2C really wasn't a problem.

But if Nylander is traded for Pageau and Wahlstrom then that only opens up $1M of cap space. Even if NYI retains 50% on Pageau, that only opens up $3.5M of cap space. No room for Karlsson.

Although maybe this Pageau + Wahlstrom rumour isn't an E4 after all...

San Jose obviously overvalues EK based on their sunk cost to acquire him.

Now somebody else is going to overpay for him.

Bunch of rich, overpaid, lazy jerks.

I'll bet the Jets players bought stuff and brought it home and made it themselves.

All sports athletes are drastically overpaid When you give someone a 50% raise do you then get a 50% increase in PRODUCTION....... Athletes all love the stupidity of the process. They laugh all the way to the bank and you suckers who buy tickets and merchandise are the STUPIDS

I doubt chicago would retain they already are retaining for 2 more years on Ncabb. they would take a bad contract but that would match better with Pitt

PIT does make sense. Not that Karlsson is not injury prone but Letang isn't the healthiest person either, and without him their D is at the very best below average. Karlsson would add some redundancy in that respect - and chances they both go down at the same time, for a long time, is not *that* high. Also, having one of them on the ice for 90% of the time would open up a lot of space for the scorers and so make it much harder to play against them.

PIT has other needs as well of course (e.g., they could really benefit from another dynamic top 6 winger like Nylander/Miller/Keller/etc), and one could debate whether adding Karlsson improves the team most significantly over other potential upgrades...but it isn't a bad idea...of course, assuming the cost to acquire and cap hit are within reason.

If getting rid of him was a priority and the reason why Tavares was signed, why did Dubas wait another season to do it?

I looked for a photo similar to this with Tavares but was unable to find one.

Its amazing that all those years he was hated by all on here..Everyone on here said he was a liability and couldn't control himself....But he was a saint when he left..

As far as JT goes, I would say at least 20 teams would of tried to sign him including Sakic.

So you run along little (frank)stick dont let the Leaf hate get to you..
