Bruins Talking Marchessault With Vegas?
Just talked to a source this morning who tells me the Bruins have interest in Golden Knight’s Marchessault, whose contract is up at the end of the season. Vegas has never had a problem moving out icons.. |

So Boston loses Bergeron and Krejci, leaving Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha as their top centreman.
But they pick up the phone and call Vegas to ask about adding yet another top 6 winger to the fold?
Seems far more logical that Boston has been busy asking about Lindholm, Scheifele, maybe even Kuznetsov if the Caps retain some of the cap hit. |

They're fine. Lucic and JVR can handle the void left by Bergeron and Krejci retiring. |

Marchessault came into the league as a center, but was moved to wing due to defensive deficiencies. In the right system with the right linemates, he could certainly play center again and potentially be an upgrade for a team like the Bruins. |

I'm sure the Bruins are interested in a variety of top centers .. however the same problem remains, they have nothing to offer the other team in return for that top center, no picks, no good prospects. Unless they are trading McAvoy, they are not getting any favors from other teams. The B's went for it and lost, and now they need to move to the back of the line!! |

Yes, most would agree the Bruins have limited trade capital. So if trade capital is limited, why on earth squander it on 32-year old Marchessault who doesn't address the need for a top 6 center? It's fake news. In the end, I think the Jets won't get a huge return for Scheifele since they have no leverage. Its trade him or lose him for nothing. Bruins could offer something like Frederic and a 2nd round pick. Or they start to tear it down and recover draft capital - Debrusk at the deadline would likely get a late 1st. Gryz likely gets a 3rd. Sign Swayman and move out Ullmark. |

He's not a center. That's Boston's need. This makes no sense even for Neely and Sweeney. |

I know people dump on the Bruins for passing on Barzal cuz they made some goofy picks.
But really - what's Barzal done for NYI?
He's had 1 good season (out of 6) and his CAP hit is > 9M.
It's not like the diff (so far) between DeBrusk and Barzal is a great as some would think. Though Barzal easily leads in pts, DeBrusk has scored more goals in less games, at less than half the Cap Hit.

Would have picked Barzal over Senyshyn, then, and would rather have him now. One actually plays in the NHL, the other has washed out already.
Sweeney will never live that draft down, and rightfully so. |

Oh for sure.
But Barzal hasn't turned out quite as well as the pre-draft promise.
Bruins could not afford him anyway. Doubt Bruins could pay for him and re-sign Pasta. Rather have Pasta.
