Talking to a source this morning and Chris Kreider is a name that has popped up a few times in the last 72 hours….Colorado, Detroit, and Minnesota have all reached out. Curious as to if the Rangers are actually going to move him…and if so, there must be something else they arew considering… |

So Kreider is going to waive a NMC to go play in Detroit? Minnesota with $15M of dead cap space and nobody playing center? |

The guy scored 88 goals in the last two seasons, plus another 16 in the last two playoffs. Is making a very reasonable $6.5M. And they want to shop him?
I hate the Rangers, but Kreider is an outstanding player. Seems odd to shop him. Are they starting another rebuild? |

Arew you considering the Avs' salary cap situation? Who are they moving out to accommodate this? Gotta be a defenseman, right? Because they are already on the thin side at forward on the bottom three. So I guess we gotta trade Girard, right? I hope in that hypothetical and completely asinine scenario that Malinski is ready to go, and I'll be looking forward to watching MacDermid crap up the ice on a nightly basis all season long too.

I have no idea if Kreider is available but if he is I have very little doubt Colorado is talking to Drury about him. The Avs pro scouts and analytics dudes love Kreider more than life itself and C-Mac and Super Joe have been pursuing him longer than even Lehkonen, if that's possible. His entire game - scoring, hyper elite skating, puck possession (CF% in the high 50's every freaking year) and better than average defense - screams the way the Avs have been built.
C'mon Chris, cut your old roommate and plane seatmate a deal.

It would be tough but Vegas and Tampa have shown us that just about anything's possible - throw a high-ish pick at a 3rd team to get them to retain half, maybe get Drury to retain a little, send McDermid off, maybe even to NY, would get you close without giving up Girard. Of course they'd have no roster flexibility and would have to make a move to get Kovalenko on the roster in April. And they really need a sixth D more than they need another F. JJ played surprisingly well after coming back last season but I really don't want him to be the plan on the 3rd pair - unless they think Malinski can step in. But make no mistake, those dudes loooovvvee Chris Kreider. |
