No doubt MM is a great player, the recipe just can’t have all sugar and no flour, otherwise it’s just sugar. Hopefully something can be done that makes everyone a winner.

Has there been a legit insider claim he is interested in waiving? Last I heard was from Friedman and he said there hasn't even been a package proposed to TOR that makes it worth asking Marner to waive.

So the Leafs wait until most UFAs are signed, but now they will trade Marner which will create a bunch of cap space and then use that cap space to do what? Sign Yamamoto? If Marner was being traded it would have already happened.

It wouldn’t actually create THAT much cap space. They aren’t trading him for picks and prospects. Money is coming back and whatever is left over would be used for the deadline

Utah could send Sergachev and a 2nd to Toronto for Marner and a 1st ...the reduction in cap space for Toronto would be worth the elevated swap in picks

Utah's trade chips are picks and prospects. They aren't flipping Sergachev. They just signed Durzi and Marino so won't flip them. So what big money is going the other way? I guess Clayton Keller waives his NTC? Leafs still net $3.5M of cap space if the deal was Keller + picks.

Sorry. Any Marner deal with Utah was going to be very heavy on picks and ELCs. Giving the Leafs $9-10m of cap space. So the room to sign Pesce or Roy or acquire Chychrun, keep Bertuzzi, add depth forwards like DeBrusk, Arvidsson, Skinner. It's all too late now. Marner isn't going to Utah.

Even if the right package was there, Marner would only waive his NMC for UTAH if ALL he cared about was $$$ - assuming there was an extension worked out as well.

It was never going to happen before the UFA signings as MM is due a $7.5mil signing bonus the first week of July. Nobody is trading for him until that was paid. There are plenty of places to spend cap space and plenty of teams looking for it, it’s a valuable commodity, and yes of course some money will be coming back. This isn’t rocket science. If the Leafs and MM and whomever want to make it happen, it will happen.

You know this because you’ve talked to Mitch? Maybe he likes fishing and hunting, and skiing. Perhaps anonymity after the Toronto gig, is his desire! Nobody knows. Time will tell.

Im told there’s a dark horse in the race:
Buffalo. Buffalo certainly has the picks and prospects to make it happen. Buffalo has the cap space now, down the line is the issue

Mitch is willing to wave as Buffalo is close to Toronto and family

Linda and Gaye Ruff are also friends with Mitch’s parents, Paul and Bonnie

You heard it here first

Batting .014, but this one is true.

Marner stays and this group gets one more run with an improved D and (possibly) a better goalie tandem.

Don't be an ass - of course I haven't talked to Mitch - none of us have. But you claim to have spoken to him based on your anonymity claim.

Maybe use some common sense though. Utah is starting from scratch. You really think Mitch wants to start from scratch at this point in his career?

Anything is possible. But probable? Not in the least.

Obviously, with the Leafs wanting to contend, would be looking for NHL players in return. Say for example similar to the Tkachuk deal to Florida. Not for cap space and just future draft picks or prospects.

I'm just checking back in, is Marner a Knight or Hockey Clubber yet?!?!?!
