Randall Ritchey: Blues Lose Again, Fans Show Ignorance The St. Louis Blues lost to the Dallas Stars tonight, with half their forwards consisting of American Hockey League players, including two rookies, and a slew of fourth liners. Fans still blame Ryan Miller.

Agreed 100% on the Miller-haters. Most importantly, good for TJ and family.

I'm going to say this not as a hockey fan but as a Christian man - I hope TJ Oshie realizes what a gift he has in his daughter and understands that the game he plays is just that, a game. His health to his family is way more important than to the St. Louis Blues, or any other team for that matter.

Why this guy is so maligned is a true mystery. Especially by fans who less than a month ago were worshipping him. Inability to score somehow falls on goaltending?!

What is more stupid? Blues fans, or this blog? Toss up.

That wasn't needed IMO.

Your opinion. Blues fans need a dose of reality and a smack to the back of the head sometimes.

Well, that smack is not needed. Us Blues fans are down, at the worst possible time of the year. And you just kicked them in the nuts.

I would have to say that we have the most fairweather fans in all the league. Makes me sick to see what the little number of "fans" we actually have commenting on social media and message boards are saying. They're calling for Miller's head. People calling for a rebuild in the offseason. We had one of the most, if not the most, successful regular seasons in team history, and we hit a bad slump and injuries suddenly piled up. You'd think most fans would wise up, but no. The sky is falling and it's all (Insert player's name here)'s fault.

Between the Cardinals stealing some tickets away from the Blues and all the fairweather fans, I'm surprised we still have a team here.

I will remain hopeful that this team has what it takes to have a great playoff run, but I'm confident I'm in the minority now. The true diehard Blues fan seems to be a dying breed.

Right, there is an overreaction. But that is bound to happen after so many jumped on the bandwagon with their excellent season. You can fall so much harder when you are on top.

Miller has sucked, I don't care what people say, he has sucked.

You wanna know why Miller was brought in? So he could make that big save in the situation where our D needed to be bailed out. Aside from the Philly game, he has yet to do that. I've seen plenty of games where Halak/Elliott made a big save that kept our team in it. Miller just keeps letting goals in.

Those that are acting like Miller shouldn't receive any blame are delusional. They consider him an elite goalie, well then shouldn't an elite goalie be able to step up at the right time?

Miller has been mediocre at best with the Blues.

It is no different than with Halak here. Normally, the Blues give up limited shots, but they still give up too many quality scoring chances. The goalies aren't going to look good with save percentage most nights.

With the forwards we are putting out there right now, there is no way anyone should put blame on Miller right now. (Going forward)

I counted about 4-5 breakaways tonight. One by a defensemen and in case you forgot the Blues out up a goose egg once again.

If you are looking to watch a goalie make an acrobatic save because they were out of position to begin with, go watch a Kings game.

Miller is all about positioning.

I hate to say this, but in less than a few months, the Miller narrative from Buffalo has carried over to St. Louis. These totally polarizing arguments come out on talk radio, message boards, social media and at the bar. One side for some reason expects the team Miller is on to win everything. And if he doesn't, even if the team isn't scoring or has injury problems it somehow falls on Miller. Then come the Miller apologists that insist he can do no wrong.

It divides the fan base. Everyone gets emotional suddenly. Miller was a very emotional player in Buffalo. Ownership, fans and media felt they had to walk on eggshells around him.

The Blues have scored 9 goals in their last 8 games. No rational person would blame the goaltending. All I have to say is as a Sabres fan, I don't miss the unnecessary weight and distraction that came with having Ryan Miller.

Not now. Too upset. Also don't want to deal with Sota at the moment, with us playing either Minny or Chicago now.

Not really you don't. Here in Detroit, we have quite a few ourselves. With the Wings situation this year of only making the playoffs as a wild card, along with how bad the Wings played at times, despite the huge injury factor this year, a great many fans want both Coach Babcock and GM Holland fired. It amazes me at how many fans who think that because they go to the games or watch them on tv, automatically think they know as much or more about running a team than the guys that have been doing it for years. And it looks like it's the same everywhere else. On one Wings message board, there's a Wings fan from San Jose who thinks Babcock is totally incompetent as a coach. Why? Because that person plays floor hockey and by doing so, he says he's developed a knowledge of hockey that gives him insight on how a team needs to be coached. Plus, many fans have this need to be gratified by their team winning. It makes them feel good. And when they don't win, they get mad because it didn't go the way that they, the fans expected and so, they point fingers of blame at players, coaches, gm's, anybody. And despite denials, most fans expect their team to win every game. Even though it's virtually impossible.

The Cardinals ruined that for us. Most fans here it's win or GTFO because they're spoiled by the success of baseball here. Blues have the added bonus(?) of losing most of our fans that don't care come baseball time.
