I'm not sure Stamkos is the right guy for this team. He's a center, we need a wing. And the questions remain about the level of his productivity. It's just not as perfect as some seem to think - Der Kaiser
If Stamkos isn't the right "Fit" for your team. You need to re-asses your team. Stamkos is a 40 goal scorer who is in his prime. |

NEWS: The Sabres have signed goaltender Jason Kasdorf to an entry-level contract. - chilliard77
Did not see that coming
Edit: didn't know he was a senior |

Wow... Was he a senior? No idea where he'd play next year unless they plan on having Ullmark up here to back up and Kasdorf backs up Lieuwen should they retain is rights. - bluengold12
Prob means we don't resign Johnson, as we also have Peterson of ND in the pipeline and he may be the best of all of the goalie prospects. A weakness has suddenly turned into a strength. |

Stamkos isn't a 30 year old Brad Richards though. He's an elite player.
Even if he is only a 8 or 9 million dollar player and we give him 11. We are still adding an 8 or 9 million dollar quality player - sbroads24
You'd also think his numbers will go up playing with elite talent like Eichel as opposed to the average talent he's been playing with since the StLouis trade
And his numbers aren't even bad
43 goals last year
On pace for 37 this year
I don't think the reason for his dip in stats is injury/decline in talent |

My guess...
Johnson backs up in buffalo
Ullmark starts with Lieuwen as backup in Rochester
Kasdorf starts for our echl team
Makarov probably goes to khl |

$667,500 per / 2 years I believe. |

That probably Sums it up better than anything in one sentence. Kaiser does have a valid point in that we'd have a huge surplus at center. Even w/o him, we have a surplus. Always read that centers can easily transition to wing a lot easier than wings to center. Reinhart is the perfect example. |

I disagree - I think ullmark backs up Lehner, Kransdorf and Lieuwen fight it out in Rochester. MakRov will go back to Russia. I don't think you sign a guy you're really high on to put him in the ECHL |

Respectfully disagree especially if it's for an offensive winger. They don't carry the same value as C's and D's. You could work something around the roster players, prospects and picks you already have. - Sabresfan-365
As far as tradeable prospects...
Estephan, Cornell, Bailey, Baptiste, Borgen, Florentino, Possler
then to a larger extent Fasching and Guhle. Not sure what you could get for those in the larger group and I don't think Murray is keen on trading the other two. |

I see it a little differently. Johnson demands too much money/term after his solid year goes elsewhere. Murray roles with Lehner Ullmark in Buffalo Retains Lieuwens rights and has a battle between Kasdorf and another AHL signing for back up duties in Rochester. |

I think they want Ullmark to be the "starter" in Rochester next year, not in another 3 goalie rotation
Maybe they just let Lieuwen & Makarov walk...
Then Kasdorf can back up in Rochester
but if not,
Then it's probably better for Kasdorf to be the starter in the echl for a year before he moves up to the ahl
That way he's actually playing, instead of fighting for limited games that Ullmark sits out
All of this is if Ullmark is in the ahl though
I believe it's better for his development to be down there playing most nights instead of randomly up here

That certainly could happen
I think it's better for Ullmark in the long run to play 60ish games next year instead of 20ish though
If Johnson moves on, there are other guys we could sign to be a backup for a year |

Id put Olofsson ahead of a few of those names. He's had a tough 2nd half statistically but Martin should have decent value as well. But im with you on Fasching/Guhle I imagine he sees both of them here long term. |

We prob will have to give up pieces we don't want to if we're gonna get a partner for Risto or winger for Jack |

We kind of have an AHL logjam at goalie next year
Especially if we sign Petersen
Probably makes the most sense to let Petersen stay at ND for another year
Then the following year, he & Kasdorf can battle for playing time in Rochester
Looks to me like Lieuwen & Markov are gonna be headed out of the organization within the next year or 2 |

This is mind numbing
We have listened for months to "blind hatred" over what we ultimately concluded was a market rate Dman contract, but now you're willing to piss away $3mill a year on a $8million player? Can't you see that inconsistency? It's inexplicable. |

#CapFriendly CONFIRMED:
Buffalo Sabres signed Jason Kasdorf to a 1 year ELC
2015-16 - $667,500 cap hit / $70,000 AHL
+ Games Played bonuses
Weird deal... So it ends at the end of the small games left in the season?? |

Right, but you are getting an elite player. Every team needs them.
Also, in reference to the comparison, the main issue with Bogo is the fact that when we are good/great he's hopefully your 4th best defensemen.
5 mil is a lot for him. At worst Stamkos is your 2nd best player through probably the duration of his contract |
