Well first why it happened for Toronto is because someone on their PP1 normally drew the penalty, Hak tends to start PP1 even if one of the players draw the penalty.

It seemed to give the 2nd unit a crack at Montreal's top PK unit and really put pressure on when Matthews and Co. came out instead of just running out the remaining time.

Would it work for the Flyers, not sure, but thought it was an interesting approach from Babcock.

The Lehtera-Raffl-Laughton line is completely capable of taking some shifts against a top line. There's a flip side to that also.
