I thought he was small, surprised to read that Vesey is a 6-foot-3, 202-pound winger.

“‘Vanilla player’ is an appropriate way to describe him, I think. I don’t see any real standout elements to his game. His puck skills and finishing ability are comparable to plenty of other low-end guys. He’s not particularly cerebral. His foot speed isn’t poor but it’s not a strength, and I wouldn’t say he has a standout motor,” he said. “There aren’t many glaring weaknesses to his game either. Maybe some DZ coverage hiccups now and then, but nothing out of the ordinary for a low-end NHL player.

“Picking him up is very low-risk, very low-reward. I get why we’re talking about him, but truthfully this isn’t a move that affects the team in any material way beyond giving Travis Green another warm body he can put in the lineup.”

The Rangers entire coaching staff will not be available for the game tonight because of COVID-19 protocol. Hartford coach Kris Knoblauch, associate Gord Murphy, and Rangers associate GM Chris Drury will be behind the bench tonight. Knoblauch will serve as the acting head coach.

It's a good move. Vesey is young, can score, makes 900k. It's not only what we want to see in our bottom 6, its what we need to see.
