I'm surprised they've disbanded the 10-48-17 line. I guess they could always go back to it - Just5
Not the most sound defensive line... I think the 47-24-17 line might be option 2 checking line to match up against the Crosby line... 27-14-36 to play against Malkin. You know Staal will be matched to Giroux line... and that leaves 10-48-93 against their 4th line... or alternate with 47-24-17 with the Crosby line...
I actually don't mind how our team matches up line by line. Sure they have Malkin, Crosby, Staal, and Neal to worry about, but I think match-up wise, our lines are more balanced.... As long as we can keep those 4 to 1 goal a game, then we win this series in 5. But I'm going to say win in 7. |

Very good news.. I do not understand why Kubina is practicing with Shelly though... You dont think he is going to be the HS over Bourdon and Lilja who are skating together today... - RooNosHockey
I would sure hope not -- although they both have been playing better than Kubina -- but it's the playoffs and he's got the experience, so I'd have the D as follows:
Grossmann - Coburn
Timonen - Carle
Kubina - Lilja |

Other than wanting to be controversial, what was their reasoning? - Emperor Filonius
Jonesy probably doesn't want out-of-shape players like him to have to endure what he did in Game 3 in May 2000 with the Flyers. |

What do you guys think...
Match up the Couturier line against Malkin, the Grossmann-Coburn Pairing against Crosby, and free float the other lines out there inbetween? You know Staal line will match with Giroux... So you will see a lot of Briere line and Read line agaisnt Crosby line and Asham line...
I dont mind this so much... - RooNosHockey
In previous games, Lava has really tried to put Talbot-Coots-Rinaldo(Voracek) with Grossmann/Coburn against Malkin and the defense pairing of Kimmo/Carle against Crosby. Playing in Pittsburgh, he didn't mind having the G line stay against Staal.

Impressive feat by Richie Ashburn
But August 17th was not quite a day he had dreamed of. In the second game of a four-game series against the New York Giants, (which the Phillies won, 3-1), Richie fouled twice into the stands, striking spectator Alice Roth. Alice was married to Philadelphia Bulletin Sports Editor Earl Roth. The first errant ball broke her nose; the second struck her as she was being carried out of the stands on a stretcher. Alice was a good sport and she and Richie remained friends for many years. - feelingkettle

The Coots line against the Malkin line is the only match up i've noticed the Flyers try and get regularly and I would say it has worked very well to this point. |

I like your bold prediction for NSH. I almost went that way too, but I think the Wings find a bit of life to push the series past 5 games. I think PHX gets past the 1st round this time. CHI goaltending and D are suspect and Toews is questionable. |

As hockey took first place in my sports heart again in the late 80's (due to not playing baseball anymore), my baseball appreciation waned. Couple that with the strike of 1994 and you have someone who left the sport for years, tried to come back in 2007, again in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, etc. and you have someone who appreciates it from afar. It's like following EPL soccer: I get all I need out of the internet the next day. |
