I really expecting him to be signed within the day.
Hopefully he doesn't just walk, that'd be pretty stupid.
I truly think this move implies another one is happening. - Scabeh
I wasn't too sure about Chiarot, and I was pleasantly surprised. I'll wait and see for Edmundson, if he signs.
Still, Chiarot is not a first pairing defenseman.
I have to say, that's one big mean defense
Weber-Chiarot
Edmundson-Petry
Kulak-Fleury (Juulsen, Romanov, Mete)
I'd prefer Juulsen instead of Kulak but his status is unknown at this point |

He was on the first line. You say Gallagher and Tatar were on the 3rd line? - deadpoulet
No I meant his role was always to play agaisnt the other team's top line and shut them down, PK ect,. He just started racking up more points because he played with better wingers because there was no other options at center. If his role was first line offensive center he would have played on the powerplay |

I don't see Romanov playing the right side... since he's a LHD.
Juulsen cannot be sent to the AHL without going through waivers, he's gonna stay with the team if he shows he's back to his normal self (he'd actually be a perfect fit on the third pair if he went back to what he was pre-injury).
If Romanov can't play top 6, send him to Laval to give him plenty of minutes.
If he does make the top 6, there's just no room for Mete.

I think the hope is that Romanov starts as 3rd pair LD and by season's end next year has shown he's capable as either 2nd pair or 1st pair LD. If that happens Chiarot on 2nd pair and Edmundson (in theory on 3rd pair) is a d core that is balanced, (although could use more o) big and physical. Creates a team that come playoffs can collapse around Price, clear the front of the net and eliminate rebounds and try and win a lot of 2 to 1 games. That's my guess on the theory behind it |

Unless they use Mete as the 7th defenseman, but he might want to play more on another team. Kulak is there as well.
Then again, they have yet to sign Edmunston so we never know. |

If Edmunston signs, one of Mete or Romanov will be the odd man out.
And I'd rather see Romanov play 20+ min in Laval (something he wasn't doing in the KHL either) than him switching with Kulak for half the games as a third pairing on the left side.
Mete as a 7th defenseman does make sense as he showed in the playoffs he can play both sides effectively.
