I really don't understand the hate on Lehner from some people. He put up very respectable numbers on a team that was less than respectable in a lot of a ways.

No that's on him. I still think it's a statistical fluke. Most goalies would have at least 1 shooter miss the net entirely. He may never be dominant in the shootout but it's statistically improbable to see something like that again

it was an overpayment but i still don't let that cloud my view of his actual play. is he perfect.. hell no. but i think with an improved defense that can clear the zone he can increase those numbers greatly and be a upper middle goalie. i dont think he will ever be top 10 but i could see him being in that 15 to 10 range over a season

They need to score in shootouts as well. Not sure exactly and I don't care to actually look it up at this point, but I'm also pretty sure they scored 0 goals in those shootouts as well. So even had he made some saves, it wouldn't have made that much of a difference.

Does he need to be better there? Absolutely. But at the end of the day, he wasn't the only thing plaguing our shootout success.

had we not traded that pick for lehner who would have been our goalie? there weren't many available at the time.. maybe we could have picked up Eddie lack..

i am shocked at how well talbot did last year but those three were the top goalies avialable for trade at that time..

Seeing as you never pick a goalie in the first round unless they're generational then sure

All the starting goalies in the NHL are usually late round picks unless generational type in the first if they get that label


But hey if Robin played Jones then sure amazing trade

It's kind of hard to score when your goalie let's in three to four goals in some night in what maybe 30 some games. He just gets rid of the energy when they start going and then they just give up
