I think that's the frustrating part of the whole thing. The people who assume Murray would have taken a specific player. We don't know that, because he didn't get to make that pick. It's just speculation.

Time to move on already.

Lehner was not the problem last year. We lost 4 shootouts with him in net. If we win, it's 4 extra points. We would have finished 23rd instead of 26th. But let's burn him at the stake.

Schneider, Ward, Price, Rask Vasilevski Luongo, Dubnyk, Varlamov, Lehtonen, Fluery all in the first round with varying degrees of success, outside of maybe Lehtonen. And in a previous post you said most goalies come in the later rounds. Depends on how you define later rounds, but I will say the first half of the draft, through 3 rounds is how I'm defining it. Murray, Greiss, Mason, Lehner, Anderson(Craig) Crawford, Allen, Gibson, Quick can be added to that list, all with varying degrees of success.

4th round or later can find gems too:

Lunkqvist, Holtby, Bobrovski, Anderson(Tor), Mrazek Rinne, Hellebuyck, Miller, Tolbot Elliott, Jones, Smith.

So while you say that most goalies come from the later rounds in the draft, I think that you are just plain wrong. And the starting goalies from last year show that.
