I didn't read the thread so forgive me if I'm repeating anyone but do you seriously want your team to make it in 8th place and get destroyed by New Jersey or Ottawa, or have it go to the wire and miss the playoffs by a point, finish the season 9th, and not get the good draft pick they were hoping for?
Granted it's a deep draft, but if that happens the leafs will be in the same boat next year that they were this year, I can almost guarantee that. |

I don't think Ottawa would "Destroy" Toronto at all. Toronto has much better goaltending.
Most Leaf fans do want to see the team tank it, but as the lottery picks get away with this hot streak, I would rather see them keep going for 7th or 8th because I don't see them, with Toskala playing as great as he is, having a shot at finishing worse than L.A or Tampa. |
|

Yeah, Toronto's great goaltending is the one thing the fans keep wanting to trade away... never understood why I kept reading "what can we get for Toskala?" The guy's been brilliant and is making a decent salary, yet you want to send him packing? |

Well they did get rid of Belak. That is likely worth 1 extra win! |

The Leafs are 11-5-1 in their last 17 games. Anything is possible if Montreal is in a playoff spot, clearly. |

The Thread states:
LEAFS have a good shot at making the playoffs!
Not sure why it says "good"
They have a shot..................an outside shot.........but lets not call it a good shot.
That's very inaccurate. |

Well, If you're going to "Blow it Up", trading Toskala makes sense, especially with Pogge looking so good right now. For a fan that wants to see the team dismantled, I can understand why they'd want him traded.

Whats wrong with having Pogge as a back-up to Toskala for a season to get him warmed up then? But okay, if you want to trade him, we'll give you Gerber - you take on less salary, and only for one more season.

it's going to take more than Gerber to get Toskala |

Leafs have a good shot at royally screwing themselves by coming in 9th. |

But the fans want him gone, so that makes the value go down.... just keep him and be happy you have a great goalie.

The absolute best would be TO getting 9th in the East, missing the playoffs, and a good draft pick. lol that would be glorious. |

also, when he was on OTR, Fletcher was very firm when he said that it is the coach's job to put the best lines out there every game. That was his response to Michael's question about why he doesn't just play AHL'ers. Fletch also said that's not his job, but that of the coach's (sorry Mike, but it's true). Cliff discussed the heavy penalties by the NHL for a team that violates the ethic code by purposely hindering their chances of winning. So would that include trading away all your best players for future consideration? |

Only the morons want Toskala gone. Don't judge the intelligent fans by the morons. |

Realistically what's going to happen here is they are going to try and get back in it and if they are not in by the final 9-10 games then moves will be made to ensure losses and a better pick. |

The fans don't want Toskala gone....only some of them want him traded because they know the return they would get for him could help us in the future....what person in their right mind would want to trade Toskala for Gerber.....it makes zero sense. |

Some fans stating they want to blow up the team hardly bring Toskala's NHL value down. |
