Sam is a solid player, his possession metrics are strong and he makes everyone better he plays with in that regard. I'd love to re-try him as a C WITH BETTER PLAYERS than had before...how could anyone succeed with those baboons he'd had as wingers... christ, they made Ellie look like an allstar. I mean, if folks want to give Risto his 5th chance with the player-whisperer in Krueger, why not Sam as a C for a bit with guys like Johansson and Vesey...see what they can do.

I agree, Tampa has drafted well in the past, but I think they are almost done, due to amount of cap taken with high salaries.

They have $14m in cap space next year, not including Point (RFA this year), Sergachev (2020 RFA), Cernak (2020 RFA), Cirelli (2020 RFA). With none of the above signed, they have 7 forwards, 4 defencemen signed in 2020. So they have some work to do, for sure.

How do they afford to keep point?
