All you need to see with Family Guy, as much as I do enjoy it, is the Cartoon Wars episodes of South Park, in which Parker and Stone just absolutely dismantle Family Guy's whole structure, you never look at McFarlane the same after that. Apparently after that episode the Simpsons staff sent Parker and Stone flowers, and the King of the Hill staff called them up to thank them and say they were doing God's work. Like I said, I giggle at Family Guy but South Park towers over it on a whole other level.

Question: Why do I always see people suggesting that a team should bring in a veteran to mentor an up and coming guy?

Top level elite athletes make it professional partly because their competitiveness is on a whole other level from those around them. These guys want to be "the man" at all times. Just because a player is 30-40 does not mean he's just going to one day turn off his competitive nature and say "alright I guess I'll take the back seat and work with this guy to take my spot". This might happen on rare occasions, but way more often than not these guys are looking out for themselves.
