This has to come from above. It could be as small as a "put them in their place talk" to assigning very clear captaincy roles to moving one of them (obviously not jack).

imo, a lot of modern coaching (or in baseball, managing) is about managing egos and usually a veteran head coach with past (hopefully recent) success demands enough respect to get them playing as a team...they might still hate each other, but they'll be able to work towards a common goal, as in winning

Agreed, you either need the reputation or the backbone.


If person A knows person B won't punish them for their actions, they'll continue acting out.

If person A has seen person B punish someone for their actions, they know they're capable of doing it to them too, shuts them up real quick.

A revolving door of fourth liners and 7th d-men amounts to basically nothing. Those roles are supposed to be like that and so doing hardly sends a message.

You embarrass a good ol Ontario boy by parking him in the press box for a night, rest of the lineup gets that message loud and clear.
