Farabee made a couple of mistakes last night that cost the team... a shame because he's been playing so confidently.
- Tomahawk

He lost coverage on Wahlstrom because he was puck watching in the crease with 4 other Flyers there in front of Moose. It's maddening how one simple mistake with this team ends up in their net while major mistakes on the Isles part with multiple odd man rushes end up in nothing. Many times not even a shot on goal.

You keep mentioning Ekholm and toughness. That's not his game. He is more finesse than toughness. How else is Ellis different from Ekholm?
- MJL

Holy christ...that dude has no idea. Eliis is known for his jam and defensive ability. Making claims that he isnt as physical as Ekholm just proves he has never watched Ellis play.

Is Chucky still employed by the Flyers or is that just a rumor? It's now or never! While I'm not advocating a panic move the dude should at least show signs of life. Either admit that you're throwing in the towel or do something now to give this team a chance. Of course, one could argue that he threw in the towel when he did nothing to replace Niskanen and perhaps the players sense this. One other thing, is Hayes on something? He must of had four or five good chances to shoot from danger scoring areas last night and it's like he was paralyzed every time. At least it looks like Sanheim took my advice and cut his hair(do they read this thread?). Perhaps now he'll stop playing like a little girl(he looked better last night).

Top 4 Dmen do not grow on trees, and the teams that have them just don't get rid of them, so in the off season I don't think they were available. Now there may be 2 top 4 dmen available from Nashville so lets see what Fletcher can do. Also Dougie Hamilton will be available as a FA in the off season. I think Fletcher has to evaluate what he has and whether they will become top 4 dmen at some point soon in the future and based on this evaluation take action or stand pat.

I haven't been able to watch Ellis because he has been hurt, but I think his game is more offensive given his size.
- jd250

His ability to quickly close gaps and keep up with attackers stride for stride make him a really effective defender... like a pint-sized Scott Niedermeyer.

Farabee should probably sit in the time out corner and reflect on what he did last night. It will be a valuable lesson for the youngster.

Is Chris Vandevelde in game shape to show this guy how to bring your best game and play mistake free hockey 100% of the time?

Looked like he assumed Elliott had the puck and stopped playing. Gotta tie up Wahlstrom's stick there.

And on the OT goal, he button hooks and then just stops skating, which allowed Beauvillier to quickly close the gap, forcing him into a low % pass thru the defender up the middle of the ice.

He's gotta be more competitive on Beauvillier in front of the net, too.

The Braun signing wasn't lousy. Braun has played well and is one of the few players you can say has given his all pretty much every game. He can play on my 3rd pairing anytime. Myers is better than a #6.
- MJL

Myers won't always be a 3rd pairing d man, but he is now. Even last night he was routinely panicking with the puck and desperately struggling to get the puck to someone in a flyers jersey. He'll get better, but he wasn't ready for the responsibility Fletch promoted him to.

The problem with signing Braun is that we already had plenty of 3rd pairing d. Kinda like getting Gus was duplicating Ghost. And Braun has been better of late, but he's been unwatchable for much of the season. When he's good he's blocking shots and playing against lesser lines.

I'm sympathetic to fletch. The damn ED is a bear. So is the cap.

I swear hockey just isn't that fun to follow anymore since it's just about cap dynamics. The whole game has been gutted over 10 million dollars here and there, in a century where billionaires are all over the place in the way we used to say "millionaires" in the 70's. They should have implemented a luxury tax instead. This is absurd. "Well I would love to trade for x but I haven't banked that 150k". "Well the owner would buy out x but it would prevent our ability to sign ufa's for 4 more years...."

Trevor Noah is not funny in the slightest bit, my two cents. Saw he had a $25M home, I don’t get it

Not the biggest fan either. Love Kingpin though, and think he's great in that.

Agree 100%. I suppose that if you don't watch the games and just repeat what you hear about someone like "he sucks" it must be true.

It's funny - Fletcher inherited the core of these players from Hextall. Last year the same team minus Nisky and Pitlick are back. Last season people were saying that this team could go far this year - a contender. What has changed? Was Nisky a #1 Dman? The energy is not there. Fletcher can do what he can to try to address the issues, but no matter what, he can't do anything right on this board.

As we can see by last night , if this team is locked in and prepared to play they can be a good team. It is on no one but the players that they constantly are not prepared and make more mental errors than any team I’ve seen before

That's because he has no idea what he's doing and some here on this board are hockey geniuses.

I already posted that I haven't watched Ellis play because he has been hurt! However Ekholm I have watched and he has a nice combination of physical play and finesse. I also already posted about Ellis' attitude and how its exactly what the Flyers need, so maybe you should read before you jump down people's throats!

It's not at all on Gostisbehere. The pass handcuffed him. He didn't purposely redirect it and there is not way he could control where it went when it bounced off of his stick.
- MJL

Upon rewatching, I take back my comment that Ghost was starting a spin around and that what caused the angle of the deflection. The pass was a little in front of him.

However, the pass was not THAT far in front, not THAT fast, there was no one near him and he had a clear line of vision to see it come.

NHL videos suck donkey balls. I never understand why some of them are so blurry. In this snapshot, the puck is circled.
