Yeah, but Umberger is older and has the same cap hit. Idk don't really care for this trade. Only benefit is Hartnell has more years left on his deal. - PLindbergh31
Hartnell's older than Umberger. By 15 days, granted, but Umberger is at least technically younger. |

This is a bad deal. Umberger was a scratch for Columbus. This would be like the Flyers trading VL for a much more productive player who is signed a little longer. - PhillySportsGuy
Who do you think the Sixers get Thursday night? Parker or Wiggins? |

Ouch Boys......Ouch
Umberger was a buy-out candidate, was he not?
Not to mention he demanded a trade out...........
Don't worry.
Here comes Kesler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any chance that Philly management tired of Hartnell's act?
I'm just throwing poop at the wall here. |

Oh ok. They are the same age. I didn't think Hartnell was 32 yet. Wasn't Umberger a healthy scratch in the playoffs? |

Wait until you find out that 'lumbus ate half of Umberger's salary. - Tomahawk
Actually, that'd make me feel a little better.
I like Hartnell, but understand that maybe he should go because of the term of his current contract.
But for just Umberger and a mid draft pick?
RJ looks like a shot player to me. |

They may not keep Umberger around... buyout is a possibility.
And still can't believe Hartsy waived his NMC to go to 'lumbus. |

I don't think people love Hartnell, but he's a better player than Umberger. Doesn't make much sense. Perhaps it's the pre-cursor to a flurry of moves. - PLindbergh31
People are really overlooking Hartnell's contract term. That's why you're not getting a better player back. I'm perfectly fine with Umberger tbh. |

The kicker is the 4th rounder.
If that was a 2nd. Then fine.
Being a 4th tells me CBJ eats salary here |

The move relieves $150k in cap space. #Flyers now at $4,363,571. Umberger is UFA in 2017. His modified NTC kicks in this year.

yeah. right now, hartnell may be the better player, but he is going down fast.
he would have been harder to move with each passing year. this is a slight step down in order to essentially free yourselves of those last 2 years. aggressive, and objectively like it. - stayinthefnnet
It's a realistic deal in a cap world. Shave off two years that are otherwise untradeable.
It helps CLB in the short term. |

Umberger was gonna be bought out.... This is a bad trade... Hartnell actually could've returned some value rather than garbage. |

I'm sure that LA has an overrated prospect laying around they could pawn off on Columbus again. |
