I don’t know why Toronto sports teams keep hiring young executives without any experience at the helm? I mean this is not a small market to get your feet wet?
AA gave fans 2 playoffs but pretty much killed off the Jays franchise for a foreseeable future with his all-in rash bets.
Now Dubas acts as if he is agents for these players with his millennial sensibility. let’s sell the farm for these top 4... who cares if there is no money left for defense or anything else.
Raptors on the other hand, has someone with brain and sound judgment. Enviable. - gamerdoc
The Leafs put Lou in place for 3 years while Dubas were here. Dubas has been with the Leafs since 2014.
AA finally got the Jays to the playoffs after 22 (frank)ing years...and he left Vladdy

Moving Nylander now is classic selling low. I don't need to explain why that's poor asset management.
The Goat looked better than ever, it's not an experiment it's development.
How does anyone keep a hot-tempered guy in check 100% of the time. Marleau gets hit directly in front of him, does Babs run out and reel him in?
The suspension was dumb, he deserved it, but at least Kadri gives a damn out there and will put in on the line. - Blazed
The suspension was ridiculous. Kadri's game fit that series against the B's. I get a game or two for a suspension, but the entire series???? Every team should be able to field their best roster for a game 7. Kadri was missed |

Outside of Thor and the catcher that went to the Mets, of the prospects AA shipped out during the two playoff runs as any other turned into full time MLB'ers?
I know Norris was good for a bit, but then he got injured and sick I believe. |

That's not true.
I'm happy when I'm drunk, high, or noodling around on a guitar, even if my sports teams are winning. |

People also tend to have a blind eye towards the bad decisions that some of those peope make. AA did do some good, but he certainly struck out a whole lot.
He traded away massive amounts of prospects for those runs. Also, he traded away other players and failed like the Beurhle/Reyes/JJ deal, and the Dicckey for Darnaud/Syndergard deal which was awful even at the time.
He traded away good players for Tulo as well. He did a lot of bad along with the good, that cant just be overlooked.
I think that Dubas deserves a chance, and that well judge him after this offeseason and next and see how he has done. |

not much else has worked out, Jeff Hoffman, Bareto they sent for Donaldson all still very questionable, Kendall Graveman was ok'ish for 1 season
Those 2 jays playoffs are the best sports memories I have in the last 15 years

Well, I agree with this, he did do something insanely dumb. I do think if this was Marchand he wouldnt have been suspended for as long even being a repeat offender. |

If AA didnt go for it in 2015, we would still be without the playoffs since 1993
I dont see any of the prospects he moved out being much of a factor. outside of Syndrgaard of course |

Just for fun, if Edmonton offer sheeted Marner at say 12mil.
The leafs take the 4 picks and could sign one of Karlsson, Duchene, Eberle, Panarin, Skinner, Anders Lee
some I dont like cuz of the age and the length of contract they would get. |

Also Marner would have to choose to play for a (frank)ed up Oilers team with no picks |

Well lets say Dubas is offering 9.5 and if you get an offer you can force the issue. I would assume that Marners side would think they match. Dubas calls his bluff and he is gone |

Hey I'm not in love with the guy, but what if he is a top 10 backup next year hypothetically? Would it be smart to move on from that guy just because?
In a cap crunch year where he's signed for 750K. - Blazed
if Nylander gets a pass or at least another shot - then Sparks deserves the same... and if you happen to put any credence into the "starter playing around 60 games as a max", then Babcock should be "encouraged" to play Sparks more often - particularly at the beginning of the season. If there's any position that a player needs to get into a rythym its the goaltender.
if he craps the bed by the new year mark, or is terribly inconsistent then promote someone from the Marlies.

Torn on Sparks, it wasn't a great year. He is signed cheap for another year and this is a 25yo Calder Cup winner.
For all the chatter about giving up on guys too soon, it would be pretty Leafy for him to go on to become a quality tender.
Goalie is such a hard position to hide a players struggles though so I have mixed opinions on that. - Blazed
Keep Sparks, we can afford to lose a game or 2 because of the backup. If not we need to start the rebuild over.
It's not like many backups are going to come in and win the cup if the #1 goes down, who cares about reg season, just have to make the playoffs.

Leafs are on the verge of having four players eat up almost half their cap space. Other teams know that. If there ever was an opportunity for an offer sheet... |
