Because he's not that offensively gifted either. Nobody's calling him a 1st line center, and O'Reilly would undoubtedly be an improvement.... but why give up a lot of pieces for a guy that's not going to fit in the role either?

Worth noting though that Bozak missed time last season, and would have likely had similar numbers had he played a full season.

Again, you hand a guy top-line minutes, his assists are going to go up. It doesn't mean he had a break-out year, it just means that the guys he was completing normal passes to were more likely to put goals into the net, and he had more opportunity to pass the puck.

We saw the exact same thing with Stajan.

Obviously the guy is skilled, but he's a defense-first player, and not offensively gifted enough to be that #1 center that you'd see on a contending team.

He'd fit perfectly as the 2nd line shut-down guy that Carlyle uses, which is why the Leafs would love him, and why a Grabo+ deal could work.

Except O'Reilly has already matched Stajan's career high in points. At the age of 20. He has a lot more offensive ability. He's not Stajan caliber. He's more along the lines of Mike Richards.

You equated Diaz to Gardiner(actually implied Diaz is worth more). That's what I'm laughing at.

anyways colorado is going to ask for more than just gardiner straight up...I like Gardiner, but the Avs are looking for more than that i think....

He was brought up before and was a step behind, now he's up to speed, but like I said, the Leafs just won 4 in a row, and the theoretical guys Gardiner would replace have all been doing well, ie. Fraser, Holzer (yuck)....and Kostka. He'll get his call up very soon, don't you worry.

Not even close to being ready, as you probably know. Seen him play with the 1000 games the Marlies have played the bulldogs this year, he needs to use that reach and size better, players are going outside on him a lot. Still learning and is young, should be okay after another or so year in the AHL.
