Really? Does Rick Nash have a bit of an attitude problem?

Good blog. Why would you mess with team chemistry by bringing in a player who does not appear to fit the lunch bucket work ethic of the Kings? I thought the most compelling story about the Kings run is how their best players worked the trenches every shift. I don't think Nash is a lazy player. But, he does not seem to inspire the people around him to play harder and he has a history of scoring goals in games that his team does not win.

Every Stanley Cup winner since the lock out has had a rough go the next year, especially in the second half of the year and in the playoffs. Boston (and Vancouver) from last year are good examples. Teams need a lot of character after a Stanley Cup win. I think Nash is a good guy, a good hockey player, but does not have the character that is going to be needed.

If the Kings were going to add anyone they should take a run at Doan. He would be a great character fit.

the idea behind the blog was good. foolish deals for LA. But I disagree with Nash's character assessment. He never went to the media first, Howsen did. He hasn't been whining. Most reports / articles I read over the years say he is a great team player and leader... he just never had much to lead in columbus (batting under .250 in ten years of drafts can do that to a team). I think Nash will be a great addition to a team when his price drops slightly. the quote I heard "howsen wants a homerun, teams want to give up a double." He'll settle on a triple at some point and both teams will be better.

You're a nutcase man ... take the 'rumour' aside, cause its a terrible one, but I can't read one of your columns without repeating in my head 'homer, homer, homer, homer'.

If you really wanted to assess this rumour you'd look at Bourque, Diaz and the pick for Williams, Gagne is a throw-in cause he's a bandaid. Hasn't played a full season in any of his 12 as a pro and he's only played about 3 dozen games for LA and you already have a celebrity crush on him ... solid professionalism as a writer my friend. BTW, your firsthand Justin Williams wouldn't been 4th in scoring in MTL.

As a Habs fan, I don't like this trade either, the only pieces I even want on our team is 'maybe' Diaz and that pick.

Wow. You could not be any more further off base with Nash. He has not gone to the media. He has not whined. He has handled everything with class. Been in and out of town (Columbus) with his charities and kept in touch with teammates. Unlike many players that end up requesting a trade, he hasn't complained and he hasn't pouted. It is absurd that the bloggers and even mainstream media just flat out make crap up on this guy who is an absolute class act. Not like I expect people who work with other teams to follow the Jackets. But flat out making up crap or believing the made up crap is absurd. Making Nash out to be the bad guy for Priest and Howson's idiocy is just silly.

I'm not the biggest Williams fan, but you're a total homer yourself if you wouldn't want Williams and think he'd be 5th or worse in scoring on your team.

Oh, and welcome back Mattypoo. How was your time out?

I thought we weren't on the Nash "list" anyway?

I don't want anything from Montreal, I don't think they have a single player we need/want.

Besides the obvious untouchable pieces in montreal, I would love to have Emelin, Eller, or Diaz on my team. Lots of upside still and already are playing solid games.

Well your asessment of the trade proposal is bang on. But your assessment of Nash is a little off. He has a wopping cap hit that the Kings (and many others) would not want to touch. But if he were a 6 mill cap hit, everyone would be salivating because he is a leader and a great team guy. I personnaly think he (along with Lou) are going to have to expand their approved trade list. Thats the only way either of them will get out.

So he is a nutcase because he hates the rumour, the rumour you agree is insulting and not worth it. Awesome. Yeah...the Habs sure dont need Williams.

At what price though? All three for Stastny.

Those guys dont have that much upside and arent much more than fringe players.

In time it looks like Eller is turning into a decent 2way second line centreman, Emelin looks like he has a bit of a mean streak out there, and Diaz looks like he could run a decent powerplay.

Nice assets to have, not gamebreakers or stars but good role players in a year or 2

A dime a dozen kind of guys, in other words.

I wouldnt put Eller on my 2nd line and expect to compete.

Nobody on the roster really offers significant upgrades to LA for what they would cost. Sure I wouldn't turn all of them away if they came in FA, but in terms of trades, I wouldn't really be happy with any of them, unless Montreal just gave a quality player away for peanuts. And we know that wont happen, so it's pointless. This trade for example, is crap, and isn't gonna happen.

Some of the things @HockeyyInsiderr has said... Errr... Just no. This trade would be horrible, and in my opinion, pretty pointless. If the Kings wanted to trade those two away for cap space in an attempt to get Nash, why not just go directly for the source? Why Not just add Williams and Gagne along with other pieces (Bernier and whatever else, a 2nd I guess?), that way, they're successfully converting cap space between both parties.

Also, I really don't want Bourque. Don't don't don't don't. Not a fan of him.

Justin Williams is the kind of player that makes everyone who plays with him a significantly better player. He'd be a great addition to any team, especially to the Columbus team. It'd suck to see him traded, considering he's one of my favorites on the Kings, but it's all for the betterment of the team.

Funny thing is. If we were going for Nash and the Jackets were interested. We could just send Williams in a package to CBJ. They could def use him. He would have the right character for theyre locker room and younger players.

That trade is terrible no matter what any Habs fan says. Sure you can say Gagne is a throw in. But Williams alone is worth more than that package. Bourque is now a salary dump for Mont. It seems that they dont even want him.

It wouldnt be totally off for a Nash to LA trade. He could be the talent that sets Kopi over the top.

Maybe something like
Williams, Bernier, Hickey, Loktionov and Clifford.
