They should refund money, with interest, to any Season Ticket Holder who wishes a refund. Period.

Oh, and fist.

they're sitting there with our money, laughing their balls off at us. that's what they're doing. players too (without the money).

we are a complete joke to them. remember that next time you shell out $500 to take your son or daughter to the rink when play resumes in 2017.

Teams should refund the entire amount, until an agreement is made, without fear of losing your season tickets. They are not providing a product, with no diffinitive starting date. That's like a dealer telling you to pay $40,000.00 for a car without a delivery date

This is what I got from the Predators:
Our hope is for a quick resolution. The NHL remains committed to negotiating around the clock to reach an agreement that is fair for all parties and will allow for the long-term success and growth of the game we all love.
As we previously communicated, we will not process any outstanding payments nor will you receive any future billings until a new Collective Bargaining Agreement is reached.
Additionally, as we said in the previous communication, we have created the most attractive benefits plan for the best fans in all of professional sports. When you leave your season ticket investment on account during the work stoppage, you will receive credit up to the amount paid on your account equal to the dollar value of tickets for games cancelled and not rescheduled, plus 10.25% bonus credit (on an annualized basis) on those cancelled games. The bonus credits will appear on your account once a new CBA is in place and a revised schedule has been released. This credit and earned bonus credit on your account can be applied toward purchases of food and beverage, merchandise, select Bridgestone Arena events, single game tickets, 2013 Stanley Cup Playoff tickets or your 2013-14 season ticket renewal. Refunds for cancelled games are available as a second option, however if you elect to take the cancelled game refund, the bonus credit and corresponding benefits will not apply. During the course of the work stoppage the Predators will send Season Ticket Holders weekly updates on additional ways to use these credits in Season Ticket Holder Benefit alerts. You can view a current benefits summary here.
Furthermore, you will also receive 7,000 (if partially paid) or 10,000 (if fully paid) points in Smashville Rewards to use toward concert tickets, autographed items, meet and greets, once-in-a-lifetime experiences and special events at Bridgestone Arena. Smashville Rewards is the most dynamic benefits platform in professional sports and we use this program to reward you for your loyalty to the Predators organization. If you have not yet registered for Smashville Rewards, go to smashvillerewards.com to begin participating in the program today.
If you have any questions about this plan or concerns about your account, please contact your sales representative. Please note, refunds cannot be processed until the NHL has confirmed that any cancelled games will not be rescheduled.

As a reminder, if you request a refund of any kind you will not be eligible to receive any of the benefits referenced above.

Again, we appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to beginning the 2012-13 season.

Oilers offered the option for us to withdraw 80% of the funds...the remaining 20% was for holding onto the season seats for the "next year". If we chose to leave the funds in the "Oilers" that we would recieve 4.5% interest return on the funds (annualized)...better than any bank rate.

I was on a payment plan. Payments were suspended when Pre-Season games were first cancelled.

I had two options for my already paid funds:

1) A "loyalty credit" of 5% interest per month and all money gets applied to the season when/if it starts or next year.

2) A monthly refund with 1% interest. Seats would not be guaranteed to be held if this option is selected.

I took the loyalty credit.

Canuck season ticket holder.

They've offered a paltry 3% intererst if they get to keep the money or if you are a monthly payment plan, they will suspend payments. They did NOT offer a refund of any kind which was what my friends and I wanted. The Canucks make money hand over fist in this market. There is a 7 year waiting list for season tickets so they know they can basically do whatever they want.

Treat the fans like crap? Who cares. There's an endless waiting list for people who will be happy to take your tickets from you.

I've been a season ticket holder for 14 years and have never been so pissed at the Canucks. The very least they could do is refund all of our money until the CBA is settled. The only way we can get a refund is if we cancel our tickets altogether.

Must be nice to be the Aquilini's sitting in their condo towers counting their money, season or not.

If it is just a month or so, I am fine with no money exchange, if this thing stretches out for 2 or 3 months, I would say they are in a breach of contract. We ( the season ticket holders) have paid for a good or service, they (the NHL owners) have not delivered that good or service and are refusing to refund the money paid - that is a breach, it also hurts in the trust and integrity area. They are sitting on money that is not theirs and it makes it easier to drag this thing. They are like a city under siege with a huge supply of water that they didn't pay for. Of course, what do they care about the guy who works 60-70 hours a week, as a kid in college, another kid in school and a household to maintain. Going to hockey games is a sacrifice-BUT NOT WHEN THE MONEY IS PAID AND NO GAMES PLAYED!! I would say I am probably like 80% of the individual season ticket holders.

Nitpick: it's like paying $40,000 for a car with an original delivery date of October 11, then being told "there's been an unexpected delay, we have no idea when your car will be here." In that case, you have the right to demand a refund - but if the car later shows up, you don't get first dibs on buying it; you have to hope you're first or else wait your turn in line and get whatever car is next available.

Translating back to your analogy: sure, you can demand your money back - but you forfeit your place in the season ticket line once you do it.

That said, when teams are offering 4-5% credits - or even if they're only offering a "paltry 3%" that's still a hell of a lot better than you're going to get by taking the money out and putting it into the bank. Go check 1-year CD rates, no one is paying anything near that kind of return. If you need the money, yes - get it back. If you don't need the money, leave it alone and let the team pay you for it.

Blues gave you 4 options.

1. They keep the money and you earn 5% interest to be used for future blues tickets or other events at the Scottrade Center or Kiel Opera House.
2. They keep the money and you earn 10% interest to be used for Peoria Rivermen Games.
3. They keep the money and you earn 1% cash interest.
4. You get the option to withdraw you money one time a month in the event games are cancelled.

Eklund: Are you an NHL Season Ticket Holder? What's Your Team Doing w/ Your Money?
- Eklund

From the Leafs:

Dear A. Tom McWedgie,

Thank you for renewing your Season Seats for the 2012-2013 season and for your continued support of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

As a Season Seat Holder, you are an integral part of the Toronto Maple Leafs team, and your loyalty is appreciated. You are likely aware that the current NHL Collective Bargaining Agreement expires September 15th, 2012. Though all efforts are focused on reaching an agreement, as a Season Seat Holder, you will have two options available in the event that games are cancelled. Whether you choose the Loyalty Program or Monthly Refund Option, you will not pay for games that are not played.

Option 1: Loyalty Program - As games are cancelled, you may elect to keep your money on account with us until hockey resumes and a credit will accrue in your account at an annual simple interest rate of 5% on Toronto Maple Leaf payments. Your credit will be applied to future renewal fees or playoff games. Note that your account must be paid in full to select this option. In the event games are cancelled, interest will begin to accrue on September 15th, 2012.

Option 2: Monthly Refund - We will refund you on a monthly basis for all games cancelled in the preceding month. You will also receive, on a monthly basis, an interest payment payable on all funds related to Toronto Maple Leaf games held in your account during the applicable month. The interest amount will be calculated at an annual simple interest rate of 1%. In the event games are cancelled, interest will begin to accrue on September 15th, 2012.

Refunds will be provided in the same manner payment was received, while interest payments will be issued to the account holder of record in the form of a cheque and sent to the address on your account.

Please confirm your preferred option by clicking here. The deadline to select your preference is September 15th, 2012. If we do not receive your selection, we will assume that your preference is to receive a monthly refund.

As these interest payments are considered taxable income by Revenue Canada, we are required to request the Social Insurance Number or Business Number of the account holder of record for use in completion of T-5 Tax Slips. A form will be mailed to the account holder of record and we ask you to complete and send back to us for this purpose. All appropriate safeguards will be taken in the use and storage of this information which shall be handled in compliance with applicable privacy legislation.

Ticket Delivery - We remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached, and as such have scheduled your season ticket package delivery for the week of September 11th, 2012. If we receive further news prior to the delivery of your ticket package, we may elect to postpone the delivery of your tickets in order to mitigate any potential issues that could result from schedule changes. If we do not receive any further news, we will continue as planned but ask that you do not distribute your tickets as the original Pre-Season and Regular Season schedule may be impacted. If this occurs, we will follow up with further instructions.

As always, we will be sure to keep you informed and aware of any related developments. If you have any questions, your Service Team is available at XXX-XXX-XXXX to assist you.

Sincerely,

I would also like to add that I posted this a month ago, and Mike in Buffalo completely ripped it off and made it into a blog, without crediting or even thanking me.

My lawyers have advised me to sue, but I'm first willing to see if we can settle out of court.

A HockeyBuzz toque would go a long way towards mending this fence...

They started collecting money during the summer. With a 99% renewal , do you actually think they are making only 2% on investments, totaling millions

I was a season ticket holder last season, but did not renew knowing all of the CBA issues. Not sure why anyone would renew not knowing if there would be hockey or not, but that is just me. Last season was the first time I was a season ticket holder and it will be my last. Only going to go to a few select games in the future. Tired of this league taking fans money and not treating them properly.

What we need to do is all get together and form some kind of group...
Then we could choose a leader to represent our common interests.

We could all sit down with that leader and decide what the best course of action would be with our season ticket money.
Then that leader could be in charge of negotiating with the teams to achieve that...
Yeah that's it... great idea...

Buyer beware. Everyone knew there may be a lockout. I bought Sens tickets (Single game, not season tix) knowing full well that the games may not happen. I also know that they can't steal my money, so I'll get it back eventually.
