are you seriously referencing James T for any hockey knowledge? |

I said wasn't all bad.
As I said, he made some really good moves but then wouldn't make more moves to really give them a chance. Getting Boychuk & leddy when he did was a very good move. He seemed to be able to take advantage of good situations but had no idea what's to do next. Coaching was also probably a yuuge failure for him as well.
In reality, I can't see Lou doing much better either. - Aussiepenguin
My guess is Lou told the owner if JT stays here one plan. If he leaves then here's the other plan which is a rebuild. Sign guys just to play and fill out a roster and rank. |

Komarov hasn't declined (a lot).
Still got 16mins ATOI last season from Babcock.
Leafs simply couldn't afford Komarov and Martin on contracts longer than1 years.
That's why they are not on this team. - plantheparade
You cant be serious. Did you not see when the Leafs didnt play Komarov when he got back from injury in the playoffs?
Komarov's hands dropped off a cliff the last couple of years. He's gotten slower and progressively worse. Not sure what games you were watching.
Is this Lou's burner account or his wife's? |

Well if it takes 8 years to recover from that kind of thing and become a legitimate contender, Ottawa should be back in the playoff mix by 2027. |

Martin - Komarov - Clutterbuck
- plantheparade
It'll be Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck like it was a couple years ago. That line had good chemistry. Leo will likely be on the 3rd line |

On the Reddit NHL page there is a proposal of Gardiner for Myers.
Both are UFA's after this season.
Thoughts from Jets and Leafs fans?? - mlindsay
Tough call. Leafs could use both RHD and size, but Myers has really underperformed his entire career when it comes to offense. Even on a really stacked Jets team, he managed 36 points last year compared to 52 by Gardiner. Doubt Myers is worse defensively, which would be the motivation for such a deal.

I think that would be a no. As much as Gardner gets slagged on, he's better the Myers. He just has brain cramps during times which is his big detractor. He just came off from a 50 point season. |

The real question is, if the season started tomorrow are you okay with this roster? (Let's assume Nylander deal is done) |

You're absolutely right.
But it's just fun to put that retalliation line in there as a 4th line - most hits by any line in NHL. |

Even if they were, there's no cap room after this season to keep them anyways. |

Tough question to answer without knowing the hypothetical deals that could be in place to bring in a d-man.
If it means we're not overpaying on a trade? Yes. |

They could have easily fit Matt Martin next year. They chose not too, because they didnt feel like he was a good fit. He didnt play from January onwards last year. |

No.
Todd Cordell actually... and there are stats to back up the claims.... plus anyone who has watched him play the last 3 years can see his decline in value. |

With the way Jake played in his own end for most of last season... I can't see the Jets making a play for him at the expense of a defensively sound big D man. |

Marleau-kadri-brown
Johnson-lindholm-leivo
Rielly-pesce

Carolina just loaded up their D....why would they trade any of them away?
They continue to improve their D, and so far the leafs havent been able to. |

Yes. Make a move for a dman at the deadline if need be. Also, there should be some Marlies pushing for the roster during the season.
I'm happy with
Marleau Matthews Nylander
Hyman Tavares Marner
Johnsson Kadri Kapanen
Moore Lindholm Brown
Jooris/Leivo
Rielly Hainsey
Gardiner Zaitsev
Dermott Ozhiganov
Carrick/Rosen
Andersen

I’m fine with that. Should easily be in the playoffs with the forward group they’ll be icing. Then hopefully grab a top 4 dman around trade deadline to bolster the defence for playoffs. |
