That would be a bit of an overpay. If big if, that was offered, I can't see Dorion saying no to that.
- PatC80

i think we'd dump Zaistsev on them in that deal.

if it came with a long-term deal, i'd be tempted.

Damn... him being out really hurts us... he's the missing piece to the puzzle this year.

In case you havn't figured it out... they are going to tank and be one of the worst in the league along with the Sens. Any Hab fan saying otherwise is delusional. kinda how the Leafs got back to being relevant in the NHL by tanking a few years n a row... MTL is doing the same.
I'm fine with Shea being out... we are a good shot at 31st.

- mlindsay

I'll trade you Nylander, Andersen for Price.

I think we're all forgetting that part of the Karlsson deal to Tampa would be Jeff Vinik providing Melnyk with a loan.

Will you guys be able to beat Ottawa in the race for the bottom?

Tanking isn't all that bad. It is really comical and entertaining. Just put out some goons and enjoy the year!

That leaves the high celing prospect cupboards pretty bare in Vegas.

First, Zaitsev is locked up, Gardiner would stay long term on a team friendly deal for sure, but with Liljegren, Sandin and possibly Rasanen on the way to the big club, it might be time to cut bait after this season with Gardiner. Such are the problems of a team that is well run. Must bug the sh!t out of Habs fans. In case you didn't notice, the Leafs farm team won the Calder Cup. So the cupboards are not bare.
- winsix

In case you didn't notice The Habs farm team won the Calder Cup back in 2006... let me go check on the polishing of all the Stanley Cup rings they have to show for it since... oh... wait.

Yes, you are right on that point!

Seriously, this is teh best thing for the habs. They need to bottom out like the Leafs did. Just wondering if they need to move Price now while he has good value?

I have a feeling that this year the Leafs will beat their point total from last year. Ottawa, Montreal, Buffalo, Detroit will all be easy pickings?

- Hockey_Reverend

Oh all 4 of these teams will be terrible.

Ottawa not having their first round pick makes them the most pathetic of the bunch.

And I don't think Price is going anywhere.... despite it making alot of sense in a rebuilding franchise.

It's actually perfect.

We get to tank another year and draft Hughes.

- Scabeh

I agree with you on this one. Nothing would be better for Montreal than Weber being injured - not sure of specific cap implications, but his salary will be much more useful to the Habs once they are ready to compete again. Maybe he gets a rash next year? If he retires, Preds are (frank)ed.

Buffalo might be better than people think. Eichel despite being a goof and wearing jorts is an excellent player and the kid Dahlin is special. None of the other 3 have that right now.

That's the best part.
Their fear for the cap recapture would likely have them very willing to make a trade involving getting Shea back and put on Nashvilles version of Robidas Island. Habs could score something nice in return for saving their Cap from exploding.

When this trade happened I literally said it was like having a loaded gun to Nashville's head.

You have them by the balls.

Yeah, I think Buffalo has a legitimate chance of getting back in the playoffs.

Adding Middlestats (butchered it) will also help.... They really need Reinhart to keep playing like he did in the 2nd half of last season or better to replace O'Reilly's offense though.

And yet Forsberg is still playing in Nashville and they're not giving P.K. back.

If I remember Montreal had been decent around that time and for a years afterwards. Doesn't mean anything to win the Calder but it certainly makes it seem your team is competitive.

You still wouldn't be competitive either way. Try and right the ship and then when that comes around you may be able to add a piece you need to a team on the rise.

I mean I (frank)ing hope that never happens. That goes without saying.

I agree with this. Weber will have zero motivation to fill the last three years of his contract. He can sit back and have drinks with little umbrellas with virtually no impact on his income.
