Funny, league trying to do a deal with Ottawa is beginning to see how unreliable and nuts Melnyk is. The longer you deal with Melnyk the crazier it gets. Watch for him to change everything again tomorrow. I believe nothing changes until everyone deals with Melnyk as the unbalanced person he appears to be.

This is about financial outcomes. Melnyk will not hesitate to do a deal with the Leafs if it includes the best financial incentive for him. Make no mistake, if offers are comparable Melnyk will force the best financial deal on Dorion. I believe this is why Dorion hangs on to Dallas and Heiskenan as his best outcome.

Because he’s better than McDonaugh. And Spooner and Namestikov are better together than JT Miller. And those are the only 2 players Rangers trades that wouldn’t have been gone anyways. So now they still have a decent core of young players, and a boatload of prospects. Plus a goalie that’s still better than most teams

Boatload of meh prospects. Their farm system is still mediocre at best. Rangers people are telling their fans to prepare for a long rebuild. But yeah, trade for Karlsson.

Rangers aren't in on Karlsson. They're full rebuild and won't be trading any young guys. They're in it as 3rd team to take on a contract in hopes a good prospect is attached for taking on that contract.

Why's that? Seems some Leafs fans are extremely nervous about Tampa. Even without Karlsson I think Tampa would more then hold its own against Toronto.

They might not. They gotta win the division in regular season - otherwise they face one of the best teams in the league in round 1.

If Draisatl is on offer I'd jump all over that. He's young and you'd have a legit 1st line C. Sens aren't likely to be competing in the near future and I don't think they're interested in paying $12mil to Karlsson.

Spending a few years on full rebuild with Draisatl as the centerpiece, along with Tkatchuk and some other youngsters could be real good for the Sens long term.
