As a Tampa fan, I would much rather lose Karlsson than overpay.
If the cost is Point, Kucherov, or Sergachev, then Ottawa can keep him.

Leafs fans should be nervous about Tampa. Conversely, Tampa should be nervous about the Leafs. - Atarileaf
I'm not nervous about it, I am excited about the games.
Can you think of anything more entertaining than watching an offensive barn-burner between a stacked Toronto squad and a stacked Tampa squad?
Good times ahead.

This will not happen but wouldn't it be hilarious is Dallas does trade for Karlsson and only has to give up Honka (who is decent) and some pieces so Dorion thinks he sent him out west and then Dallas in turn trades Karlsson to Tampa for Foote, Raddysh, Koekkoek and a 2020 1st round pick. Or some variation of that. Kind of like what San Jose did. It would be fitting for Ottawa.

Rattie wearing a Draisatl jersey. Classic distraction......wait a minute. This is Chia - it'll be McDavid in a Draisatl jersey. Sorry, Edmonton. |

I'm down with that. You can't win a Stanley Cup without beating 4 good teams and at least 2 elite teams so whatever order you face them in is irrelevant.
I'm just glad the Caps won a cup so Ovy can stop crying about having to face Pittsburgh early in the playoffs. |

Why would you wish that? He's not signing with sens so get what you can..franchise is in survival mode now - bazookajo
As we all well know, there is another window of opportunity. Next years trade deadline. There will be more desperation for the playoff push. If the Sens are not in a good spot we trade him. You have to realize that he is still a Sens because the offers are nothing anyway.

Hope this move helps keep the Team in Ottawa . I fear this owner will do the
e cash grab after the talent on the roster is gutted and he will take big money for the team to be moved to Quebec. |

ok Island boy.............by the way thanks for Tavares!, you basically gave him up for Lou, Matty Martin and uncle Leo...................nice eh! - bluestar
Unfortunately I was not the one who gave Toronto Tavares for nothing. Just be careful of what you wish for. Tavares is not worth the money and as an Islanders fan I am really ok with him leaving. I'm not very happy they let him walk without getting anything in return. I wanted him gone last summer. |

UFAs get big paydays and he did leave money on the table to come to Toronto. I've put the salaries into a spreadsheet and planned it out for the 7 years of JT and Toronto can afford him.
I've assigned 11.5 to matthews, 7 to nylander and 7.5 to marner. If the Leafs can move Marleau's cap hit next season we won't lose anybody in years 1, 2 and 3 of Tavares time. In year 4 we'll have to give some raises to our younger wingers so in year 4 and maybe year 6 and 7 we'll have to trade one winger away and replace with a young ELC. The wingers we'd have to lose would be a Hyman or a Brown or a Johnsson or a Kapenen.
Tavares $11mil is no bargain for sure, but the Leafs can make it work, so why the hell not.
Isles should be fine soon enough, they got some great young talent. They've got Lou. If they wanted to go straight up rebuild they have some high quality vets that could fetch good returns. |

I just want this Karlsson deal done so the return will be so bad that Dorian gets fired, Melnyk sells the team and that tool hockeybuzzer alfiedumdum finally deletes their account in a meltdown rage |

lol, they won't do that and they won't have the opportunity. He will be extended by the Leafs before July 1st of next year. Nylander is open for offer sheeting right now though.
And Matthews wouldn't sign with the Islanders anyways. He seems like a man who wants to win and the Leafs are a place to win.(I haven't been able to say that for many many years but here we are) |

Last offer sheet that was accepted and not matched was orchestrated by boozer Kevin Lowe. Yes indeed the Coilers signed Dustin Penner - for five years in 2007. Keep dreaming Einstein. That was some kind of deal, smelled even worse than the Lucic deal. |

Edmonton doesnt make sense. Draisaitl isnt going anywhere, weve waited 10 years for a forward like him we arent throwing him away for 1 year of EK. IIFFFFF EK signed at a discount for us that might make it worth it but id rather have draisaitl than EK for 50-60 games every year at 11+ million. You can have bouchard , nurse, some picks but we wouldnt give up anything else and the sens wouldnt take that so there is no deal to be made here. |

Good thing Lou is in New York to save the Islanders. Pathetic organization was dead last in attendance last year - behind such sad sack teams as Arizona. Might be a while before Lou can undo the damage that Barf Snow and Pull my Wang did.

I assume any move for Karlsson would have to be if a team is giving up considerable assets.

Agree that Edmonton doesn't make sense, especially knowing that Melnyk is in financial trouble, the franchise is doing poorly and they want to unload Bobby Ryan in the deal. It is as complicated as it gets, because, Karlsson has to sign with the new team or the return is minimal.

Hall for Larsson...Eberle for Strome...with this record it must be McDavid for Karlsson...although Dorion would still want more. |
