What was the bet? - nbboy
That Mark Stone would be offer sheeted. Turns out that might have had a better outcome than if he makes it to arbitration. |

'twas me. Tumbleweed (who placed the actual bet) and Aetherial are being especially good sports about it, I will say. - sportsdataguy
Good to see! And even better on Aetherial to follow through. How long does he have to have it for? |

Why do they have to be North American? There are some Czech players that are pretty good. Swedish, German, all kinds! Do they have to be white, too? The world is a colourful place. - cnatch

What are you talking about, there were times when these three "leaders" were there last year and it made no differerence. The team sucked. Forget being in contentions. But I hope they all get traded.
As for Habs haters, the Habs are like Star Wars, a once great franchise that was tarnished by incompetent fools that the fans finally are waking up to it. |

As a Habs fan I am not going to sit here and defend Price's contract. It is ridiculous. He is overpaid and if he does ever get dealt it would be for much less than his value is because of that deal.
With that said, I don't think the Habs are as bad as what people make them out to be.
When I think of last season it was a complete and utter disastter. I am also not the type of person to make excuses but:
1. Weber broke his foot on game 1 of the season. His loss, even for the 25 games he played with the broken foot was tremendous.
2. Danault who is one of the teams top 2 centers missed 30 games.
3. Artthuri Lehkonen who is going to be a 20 goal scorer missed 20 games
4. Price was brutal and will rebound.
5. Pacioretty missed 20 games and was not dangerous at all because of injury.
Do I think they are contenders....no chance. But by that same token I think they can be a playoff team. Not a lock for the playoffs but can contend for them. Simply needs the cards to fall in the right place unlike last season. Their issue right now is lack of depth on D and a lack of centers thereby forcing guys like Drouin and Shaw to play down the middle.
One of the things that nobody gives credit for his that right now they have among the best wingers 9as a collective in the NHL). I know personal bias might lead you to say otherwise but they have Patch/Gally capable of 30 goals, Byron/Drouin/Lehkonen right there for 20 goals. Then add guys like Domi/Shaw/Hudon/Scherbak to the mix and they have the making of a very good group of wingers.
Big question is down the middle and on D. - willey101
Patch/Gally capable of 30 goals - did nobody tell you about the trade? |

Price is worth about half his salary. Nobody takes on that contract, and no way he earns his keep. This will cripple the Habs for years. |

Wow, I was expecting maybe the whole summer, but not a full year!
Again, good on Aetherial for following through. Much respect. |

I didn't lose the bet!
I will have this avatard until I grow bored of it. I am thinking of going back to my old series of assvatars, although the mods didn't love them as much as everyone else.

It is tough to think of 2 teams in worse situations.
I know Buffalo finished last last year but they have Eichel Middlestadt Dahlin Ristolainen. You can see the team will start to trend up.
Vancouver has looked horrible for a couple years now but Horvat, Boeser, Pettersson, Demko are a good foundation
Phoenix? Again, more talent, and more young talent, on that rosters than Habs/Sens. |

The Sens logo is reminiscent of the American Express logo, but I imagine Melnyk doesn't like paying that bill, either. |

Isles got a steal there. I’ve been screaming about Kovar for years. He was my pipe dream player to come to the Blues. |
