No matter how good of a player you are, you can only make pylons with cement blocks glued to them look a certain level of good. Trying to compare McDavid and Matthews is absurd because they're in not even comparable environments.

Exactly. It's really a non issue. One of the young three will have to be moved out, but all carry a lot of value. Matthews wouldn't be the one leaving IMO. He'll get 11 to match JT and call it a day.

McDavid is a 10 on offense and a 7.5 on defensive side of the game.

Depending on what you most needs for your team, you pick one of them as 'the best'.

Both are great players and will arguably be the best 2 Centers in this league 2020-2025.

Matthews has 132 pts compared to Conor’s 208 pts over the last two seasons. That is not close.....

Buffalo paying Jack Eichel what they did was a major f__ up in my opinion - and unfortunately that will be the yardstick many will use as a comparison for Matthews... and of course Patrick Laine - who we all know is a superior player to Matthews.

While it is silly to compare Matthews to McDavid - pretty much everyone knows this, downplaying Matthews offensive talent is equally silly. Yeah, his offensive high is 69pts, but he did that in his rookie year scoring 40 goals and playing with 2 other rookies, one that really is a 3rd and maybe even a 4th line player. In his second year he had 34 goals and 63pts in only 62games. If healthy next year, pretty safe to say that anything under 90pts would be a disappointment. Matthews is definitely a 9 out of 10 offensively....McDavid is an 12 out of 10!
