So Bergevin is trying to let him walk away for nothing? "If Lou did it with JT, it must be a good thing" - Pat1993
Well if his contract demands are outrageous, he probably has more trade value as a short term rental at the deadline than coming in burdened with a huge deal....
Kinda makes sense... |

And he should.
Then again, I'm sure most teams are willing to write off his last season and give him a huge contract.
Another bad season would hurt his value significantly.... both on the trade market and for a future contract.
It wouldn't be a bad thing to sign a big contract today for him. |

doesn't work that way. He will get a contract for what a team thinks he is worth now and for the next 5-8 years depending on duration. If he feels he got screwed last time, that's his problem, he is not getting the shortfall. |

For sure it would be a good thing for Max, but if he has another bad season next year, kinda like DT was saying, teams won't be interested anymore in taking on that big contract for a guy that potentially lost his scoring touch |

I get what you're saying and you're right.
It just removes any possibility of him saying yes to a discount imo. |

Agreed, maybe he's trying to use that argument against the habs, but other teams won't give a hoot about that |

I'm sure he'll be fine though.
EVERYTHING went wrong for the Habs last season.
Except for like... Gallagher and Byron.
They could easily be better next season, even without Weber to begin the year.
Doesn't make them a bad team, but just like after the last time we finished 27th, we could bounce back faster than people think.

that's for sure, he will play hardball with MTL. Unless he signs with MTL at full price, Pacs will be UFA next summer IMO. |

The Habs new coaching staff could probably beat the current Hab players in a game. |
