That is correct however knowing OTT is unable to extend him reduces the value.

I have a feeling Ottawa is going to send EK to Detroit and force him to eat those disgusting little caesars pizzas as punishment.

I have heard these rumors on other sites and it involves his attitude and the fact that the d-core there is pretty deep. It’s a contract they could spend elsewhere. I don’t know anything about Subban personally and he seems to do some cool charity work and such so I don’t think he can be considered a bad person, but from what I understand is Montreal moved him for reasons involving his attitude. Sometimes in sports, guys are just a pain in the ass no matter how talented they are. Just a thought, but I don’t think it’s crazy to think there is something behind these rumors.

Why do you keep saying Edmonton is up to something? You've said this for weeks and nothing ever happens. Just a joke of an article writer.

Eklunds sources contacted me today and told me Buffalo has a deal with Ottawa to sign and trade Karlsson for Dahlin and Mittelstadt. It's basically e4 at this point but as you guys know, things can change in an instant. Ball's in Ottawa's court.

Ha! Maybe it is. That’s why I called the rumors and not facts. But I remember when he was moved out of Montreal, he was not getting along with the coach and playing very selfishly. Why else would a team like Montreal move a young Franchise defensemen.

Subban was loved by the fans and the media in Montreal. They hated management when he was traded for Weber. Montreal fans would reverse that trade in an instant. What is that we don't know and have been never told?

They have a bad GM and had a lame duck coach at the time. Also Frenchies are racist.

The truth is somewhere in the middle...which means neither player is going to be moved.

Ooh, I know this one. Both are guaranteed not to win a Stanley Cup as long as they continue to play in Canada. This is solely because of Gary Alfred E. Neuman Bettman.

I think comparing Patches and EK ignores one major factor...franchise player. I like Patches but he's not on the tier EK is and frankly it isn't even close. For his sake I'd hope MTL moves Patches soon so he can avoid the fall media BS he'd deal with if still a Hab but truthfully don't think the value the Habs receive would be that much different at or near trade deadline vs now with an extension. EK on the other hand isn't worth the treasure trove of assets it would take to acquire him without an extension.

Also one is a winger which is the least valuable position in hockey by miles.

So I don't think this comparison is sensible in the apples to apples sense. At least those are my opinions

I agree with this, I just think sometimes big personalities can clash with management and even teammates. It could have been as simple as P.K. just not buying in and being vocal about it. Some coaches and management don’t want that and some handle it just fine. This is a great article from a few years ago I think that is a well balanced take. https://www.nhl.com/news/...s-no-surprise/c-281093904

Well said. Comparing the situations as to value is weak.

You can't trade players with big contracts unless you take a player with a big contract. A good player, with one year to go, can walk. You can't give away a future, if that player doesn't indicate he'll sign with you.
Would the Flyers be better if it was Karlsson for Wayne Simmonds. Not really. Wayne wants to stay, what if Karlsson didn't. Hard to make a trade. We aren't taking Bobby Ryan unless a lot of cash is involved. He isn't tradeable either

Something is wrong when a you have a group of Thai soccer players trapped in a cave since June 23, they get rescued three weeks later, only to discover that Karlsson is still not traded yet.

They have another thing in common besides being 'ruled' by an idiot commissioner. They have bad GMs.
