According to Jeremy Rutherford's article today, Maroon turned down a 3m+ contract to sign with the Blues. The issue was term. He had an off-season back surgery, so teams didn't want to go more than 1-2 years. Sounds like he decided to do a one year contract to prove he was healthy and sign a big deal next off-season; and if doing a one year deal, wanted to be near his son.

As a Blues fan, feel like we are lucky to have him. I feel like the things that endeared him to Oilers fans are the sort of things Blues have been missing completely since Backes left, as far as sandpaper etc.
