2- 23 minutes halves? A bit odd. - manvanfan
That's why I mentioned it. Maybe this is a thing in Minny?
Give Boeser the hat trick goal. It's now 4-2 Bic, he has scored half the goals. And he's not being a puck hog - he's trying to set up his linemates.

Awesome. Doesn't look like he is showing any signs of any nagging injuries. |

Your rules, >= 200 face offs taken. And I only listed the 180 players who took 200 or more face offs. If you could read you would have understood. - 1970vintage
What I lack in reading comprehension I more then make up for in height, which makes me right....
Let's move the bar to 1000 faceoffs and see what happens?
Plus.... Dowd? |

Dowd was only on the list because he had greater than 200 face offs. For the record, he was the worst player out of 180, in total points and ppg I think.
I think the air up there is too thin for you, you should probably sit down.
It’s all in a spreadsheet. Easy enough to eliminate those with fewer than 1000 FO’s, I’ll get back to you. |

It’s funny because I keep hearing how the Canucks aren’t worth watching this season and the stadium will be empty. Idiots bo, Boeser, EP and maybe Hughes? Most exciting Canucks hockey since 2012. Thx Carol!

There were 51 players in the NHL last season who took 1000 or more face offs.
Of those players, Nathan MacKinnon finished with the highest ppg average of 1.31. Brad Richardson finished last with .20 (51st). Brandon Sutter was 43rd, at .43.
The highest scoring player was Claude Giroux with 102 points, the lowest was, you guessed it, Brad Richardson with 15, Sutter was 47th (out of 51) with 26, though he only played 61 games.
There are some pretty good players who get left off this list however, such as Connor McDavid, who only took 909 FO's.
And just for amusement, the average number of face offs taken, by those who took 200 or more, is 779, so we should probably open this up to those with 750 or more...
Anyway, I think my point is made, of the players who are relied upon heavily Brandon Sutter finishes near the bottom, except for FOW%, he's middle of the pack, just behind, you guessed it, Brad Richardson. |

If Sutter could keep a .43 ppg pace that is well worth his contract IMO. Especially considering he is primarily used as a defensive center taking harder assignments. |

That's done really good work. Thanks. I'd imagine if sutter played all 82, he'd have like 1500 face offs taken. .43ppg isn't bad considering he had almost all defensive choice starts and very very limited pp time.
You've convinced me that Sutter is a good, not great third line checking center who eats about of hard minutes.
I would say that makes him one of the top 75 centers in the nhl. Just the fact that he takes so many draws in a defensive role leads me to believe that he is a valuable player in today's nhl.
Hat off to your research team.
Any chance you could break it down to faceoffs power game and break down say the top twenty or so. See where he falls? |

Botchford mentioning how brutal the Canucks schedule coming up will be. 17 of the first 26 are on the road. They only play a tired team playing the night before 3 times. Didn't mention the numbers the other way but it was high. Mentioned us being the lowest scoring team as we all know last year...losing 140+ points by the Sedins and Vanek. Not to mention possible injuries to key players...yikes! |

Boeser and Bo were on the team last year and they were one of the most boring teas in hockey.
We’ll see if EP + the grinders change that |

Sedins loss will mostly be felt on the PP. They were liabilities at 5v5. Vanek was a good offensive player at 5v5 and the PP but also sucked defensively.
I bet 5v5 numbers improve for the team but the PP takes a step back unless EP really comes in on fire like Boeser did. |

I was pleasantly surprised at the entertainment value for the first half of the season. The second half was not great and the last quarter after Brock went down was crazy painful. Although I did enjoy the Sedins short swan song. All in all it was infinitely better than the previous two seasons. |

All true. Funny how Dorsett was the 'glue guy' that held it all together lol. Boeser was a gem. Would have been so great to have a Calder winner here.
We are in for a treat when it comes to entertainment value with Pettersson and soon to be Hughes. Demko will surprise as well. Lots of good things coming. |

Hopefully next season the offense entertains us and the defence and goaltending gets us a top draft pick. |
