Every way?
Oh lawd Terry Crisp, put it in reverse. - hereticpride
You were probably too young to see this game but it was the most memorable game ever for me. Having the Russians too scared to come out for the third period was like so sweet. The Flyers just punished the Russians so hard they did not want anything to do with the puck.

Your wrong, some have already talked to me. None of them like you that is for sure. I know that you are not a real man because a real man does not hide. You would be surprised how many are not too happy with your little lynch squad. |

Guys, I’m giving my opinion of what I would do with our current thin crop of centers. I would have G go back center.
A) Filppula isn’t here to replace Couturier or Patrick if either player gets hurt.
B) Whether it not Frost is ready, we currently cannot put all our hopes into believing he’ll make the same jump as Konecny did. Konecny is a winger.
C) Is G playing wing the best thing for Giroux or the Team? He put up 102 points. That’s amazing. I doubt he’ll do it again but we can hope or maybe he will but will the team be balanced enough for him to play wing? We brought JvR in. JvR as numbrr one LW isn’t a terrible thing.
D) Briere, Carter, Richards were all first line centers at one time when they played here. The three lines worked. All dangerous. When Giroux came in, one was moved to winger. We aren’t this deep.
I apologize now if my thoughts and opinion, threaten your thoughts and opinions. - SuperSchennBros
You make a good point that having Giroux on the team is good insurance if a #1/2C goes down. But having G and Coots on the same line has multiple advantages that many people seem not to realize. As was pointed out by someone else, G gets a lot less wear and tear not having to defend as a center, and this is possibly a lot to do with why he was able to be more productive. Also, playing with Coots makes G less of a defensive liability. Giroux not only had a career points year, but also by far his best +/- year.
Another HUGE advantage is having two very good face off men on the same line, with one shooting left and the other right. The Flyers win more draws, and can be productive off of the face off wins because they can use the center best suited to that situation/location. That alone makes the line (and PP1) more effective off of set pieces. G to 2C should be a last resort. |

Posters on this board are overwhelmingly in favor of keeping Giroux and Couturier on the same line so what is your basis for stating that many people don't seem to realize the advantages?

I didn't say that. I said in all of the discussion, the REASONS why it makes sense have not been articulated (mostly in favor of "we are right" and penis fencing).
I was pointing out, as you did that it makes sense to remember he can play center if needed, but also providing evidentiary support for the popular opinion. Try reading the actual words. |

Make or break time for sure, just like I can never see Lindblob making it either, Vecchione actually has more skill and could surprise. He reminds of a young Matt Read and he did okay for a few years. I even like Ratcliffe better than Frost for potential to actually make an impact. |

I don't think there is any doubt that Lindblom is going to be a solid NHL player.

I've seen the game multiple time but yes it was before my time.
I like to imagine it would be like the Flyers taking on a lineup of all the ousted Trump appointees now. |
