In basketball, signing a player like LeBron means he's playing 40 out of 48 minutes and playing offense and defense. Not to mention, LeBron is the greatest player of all-time. If he's not, he's the 2nd best of all-time. Your comparison flat out sucks.

Just for fun...Brad Richards signing in 2011 made the NYR instant contenders to win the cup that year. They were booted in the first round the year before, reached the conference finals in the 2011/12 season.
