I think this is a fair number. I thought 5.5 might do it, but he's on his way to being a top 5 goaltender every year, this deal is good for both sides!

now.... a few more RFA's and future RFA's lets get it done Chevy!

No.

Gardiner and Myers are pretty close in value.

So does Zaitsev, Carrick, Sparks and Leivo get you Trouba?

Not even close. That's a bunch of spare parts for a top pairing RHD.

Can you revise the proposed trade to include some NHL players from the Leafs ?

The $6 million range is the cost of a starting goalie and Hellebuyck is a great starter. Fair deal for both the club and the player, it's nice to see the Jets lock up their core players long term.

Mr. Trouba...you're up next.

Gardiner is better then Myers, but the rest of that trade doesn't make sense for the Jets

Jets goaltending duo of Helly/Broissat in 2018-19 will cost them about the same as the 2017-18 duo Helly/Mason

Well, check that box off. Good to see the deal get done. Helle has made improvement every year so the draft and develop model has produced a good goalie that that amped it up significantly last year. I like the trend.

Interesting that Brossoit has the same coach as Helle.

Seems high....he’s only had one full, strong year, no? But hey, if he keeps it up it’ll be a fair deal

Winnipeg seems like an ideal candidate to attach a prospect to a garbage contract in order to relieve themselves of useless salary

Kulikov + Roslovic for a 3rd round pick?

Gardiner got 52 points last year only 8 behind trouba and Meyers combined

I have my doubts Meyers is gonna stick around after one more season unless the jets can win it all. trouba wants out, most likely to some amaerican team and will be grossly over payed given his production and usage to stick around.

Zietsev had a terrible season but should bounce back to value for the remainder of his contract. This is what is ultimately valuable to a team like Winnipeg, players that have no choice but to play there for a long time. Free agents don't come easy to northern Canadian markets so trading for contracts with term are important. Even if gardiner walks the next season a 2nd pairing of zietsev and kulikov could be effective.

Your probably right trouba has a lot of inflated value being a truckulent righty so I guess the leafs could off load there 1st round pick in the deal.

Ahhhh....a homer fan overvaluing his own mid-level prospect. What a twist!

Kulikov is a truly awful contract, man. Not cheap to unload those

No it's a great deal.

Holtby really only had one full strong year prior to his 5 year deal.

Gardiner is trash. There was a replay on TV the other day of the Bruins Game 7 playoff comeback, and do you know who was way out of position for the game winning goal? (frank)in Gardiner.

I wouldn't want him anywhere near the ice during the playoffs. As everyone witnessed during this years playoffs, he's a turnover machine that's always out of position. Good luck winning with that guy!!

Hey, I hope you’re right, and he turns into Holtby. But for every Holtby and Freddie Andersen, there’s a Steve Mason and Andrew Raycroft. No guarantees in life, son

A little bit, yeah. Not lighting the world on fire - 5 goals in 32 NHL games. But he’s only 21

I take it you think he’s too valuable to use in a salary dump deal?

Washington had to cough up Grubauer in order to dump Orpik. I’d argue that Grubauer is more valuable than Roslovic, and I’d also argue that Kulikov is a worse player than Orpik

Just my two cents though. What do you think it would cost to offload Kulikov?

Yikes, that is a big contract for a goalie with a short track record!

He was really good last year and if he can stay at that level he will be worth it. But sometimes goalies get figured out after a couple good years. Term and dollars both seem too high. A shorter 3 year $3.75 deal like Matt Murray's would have made more sense.

So he's making 6,166,666 dollars and 67 and 2/3 cents per year? How's that work?

Logical, measured response. Makes a tonne of sense

Unfortunately, Streit2thePoint already provided the definitive outlook on the deal. It’s amazing. Hellebuyck = Holtby. Conversation over

Of course a shorter term and less money would have been ideal for the Jets but you don't know what goes on behind the scenes or what discussions have been made. They could have been trying to avoid arbitration
