What would be a realistic trade scenario for the Caps and Calgary to acquire Tom Wilson?

Frolik + Kylington?

Johnny Money Neal
Chucky Backlund Wilson
Bennett Lindholm, Czarnik
Jankowski, Ryan, Foo

I really dig keeping our most dominant shut down line intact. One injury riddled season doesn't mean he's expendable bottom 6 trash.

While wilson isnt a savior by any means, hes due for a raise off a good playoff despite playing most of the year up and down the lineup, i still dont think that gets it done unfortunately

I don't think its worth it for a player who has gotten past the 30 point mark only once in his career, last year, and spends a lot of time in the penalty box...

You really think they should be trading a pretty decent defensive prospect and a solid winger for a 4th liner?

I wouldnt call him a 4th liner dude. He is servicable in many situations. Not sure what the Wilson situation is/contract??? But if we could bring him in for Frolik and Kylington... I would be for it. Frolik was/is great. Good signing. You bring in Wilson and u don't need him. Only saying this because from what I heard Londolm can hold us own defensively.

Remember what happened when Bouma scored 34 points then got a big raise? Wilson probably won't have such a dramatic drop off, but I do think he won't be worth his contract as early as this year, and the Flames definitely shouldn't be giving up useful pieces for him.

I would love to have the guy on the team just for the entertainment factor. Can you imagine him and Tkachuk on the same line?

I don't get giving Lindholm long-term deal now. In two years is he going to be a 70 point player demanding a lot more? Seems like a risk being made for no real reason.

It's not really a risk. 5M is pretty much the market rate for what he is right now. As long as he doesn't regress, 5M isn't an awful number for what he can do. If he gets better in Calgary, 5M is a bargain. A bridge deal would still probably cost them 4M a year.

He's not worth 5mil right now. 40-45 point players are easy to come by.

Why GM's want to spend that much money on them is beyond me.

Although let them continue to spend. RNH is slowly not looking like a horrible deal anymore.

Maybe, but a lot of them are still making 4-5M. They also sure haven't been easy to come by for the Flames and Oilers.

We really needed to keep Maroon when we had the chance. We get them we move them anyway

I also feel agents are starting to play the Seattle is going to drive up the cap card as well.

I wonder if there's anything to read into that the Flames are working on the Lindholm contract before the Hanifin contract.

If he stays on that top line with Monahan & Gaudreau, he absolutely will get 60+ points of which $5.0 mill will look solid. No different than what you guys are going to have to pay Nurse to keep him, you'll have to pay these top 10 picks with high ceilings some of their UFA years. If you dont, look at the Jets. They are already struggling to keep the cap in line, wait until they need to ink Wheeler & Lianni ..yikes those two will not be cheap. But if like was said, the going market for a consistent 45-50 point player is around 4.0-4.5 mill, if your going to gamble atleast its like playing red/black or odd/even on the roulette table.
