The first thing I think of when I think of Ray Emery is that damn smile. Love him or hate him, that smile was arrogant/cocky and downright hilarious.

He was the epitome of “one of a kind”

So sad. RIP sir.

Reported missing just after 6 AM. It's possible he was going for a healthy swim, but he also had some off ice issues. My money is on alcohol being involved.

Also heard that Hamilton habor is not a known swimming spot, due to the water not being very clean.

Boating accident perhaps?

Also seeing it as a "misadventure" after jumping off a boat, friends reported when he didn't resurface. Could have hit his head.

Emery was eccentric, colourful, unpredictable, and sometimes just a nutjob, but when he was focused and on he was a very capable and solid goalie. Right from his OHL days he just couldn't seem to stay out of trouble and had issues with his anger management. In the AHL I remember watching him in warmup get a shot up high from a teammate, and just snap. Charged out of the net to beat the hell out of the guy.

A shame he died so young though. Likely jumped out of the boat on a dare, after all this IS the guy that ate a dead cockroach found on the Ottawa dressing room floor for $500.00 too... just a shame. RIP.

Always loved Razor’s flare.

Diving into shallow water is obviously a dangerous thing. Sometimes you have no idea how little water is there. Especially with sandbars at low tide! Clearly I have no clue as to what happened, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he conked himself and suffered that unfortunate fate, or perhaps from driftwood or flotsam. It’s a sad story.

let's pretend he wasn't on coke or abused alcohol shall we.
anyone who actually knew him personally should not be surprised that something like this happened. this is what happens when you give humans like this all the money and free time in the world. once again RIP to a life well wasted when it didn't have to be. people need to know the truth so that maybe just maybe it could prevent at least one more person from going down this road and ending up dead any age not just a mere 35 years old.

This may all be true, but it's a sad time for his friends and family, he needs to be remembered in a positive light. RIP Razor Ray

2012-13 season with the Blackhawks:

17-1, 1.94 GAA, .922 save pct, Stanley Cup Champ.

We all have issues. Many of us with issues wish we could have had a taste of that level of success at some point in our lives.

RIP Ray.
