Keep up the good work. You are by far the most consistent blogger on this site. Kudos to you for never wavering |

Same way Freakerenko was the world's best player at one time. |

I know why Reinhart wants term, but I don't think he has eared it yet. Yes he did put up some impressive numbers. Especially on this team where consistency is the biggest issue. But part of the issue was Reinhart himself. I think a fair deal would be three years at $4.25 to $4.5m per year. If he wants more, go with another quarter to half mil for 1 less year.
This team needs more consistency. I like the assistant coach signing from Carolina. And surprise surprise there is rumor about the Sabres linked to the better Justin Faulk. Most have commented we don't need another d-man, which numbers-wise we don't. But quality-wise, I'd take this Faulk in a heartbeat. If we could swing that, then maybe we could dangle someone like Bogo or Nelson for a draft pick or two?.?.
Botts is making this a very productive summer and I like what he is doing. I do agree however we need to get another winger or two and lose some dead weight like Pomminville, Larson, or Girgensons. And I have liked each of them a lot at times, but not so much now. Still have a month and a half to training camp. Keep up the good work Botts. The Sabres faithful are hoping |

Botterill traded a third-round draft choice for future 30 goal scorer Conor Sheary.
Let's see, here are Sheary's goal stats since he entered teh NHL:
2015–16: 44 games, 7 goals
2016–17: 61 games, 23 goals
2017–18: 79 games, 18 goals
Although I expect him to rebound after his bad season last season, keep in mind that he frequently played on Crosby's line (the first line). Not only did he get a large amount of ice time but his stats were inflated by playing with Crosby. Crosby elevates the stats of every winger who plays with him, whether Kunitz or Dupuis in the past or whether Guentzel or Rust in the present.
I expect he will do well for the Sabres but 30 goals, come on . |

30 goals seems outlandish, but I do expect some good production from Sheary.
Eichel isn't Crosby, but he is a good 1C. He hasn't had a left winger that could play with him, only Kane playing to the beat of his own drum, and I think Sheary will ride shotgun with him next year. So while the quality of the center went down, it isn't like he's going from Crosby to a chump. Also, he'll get those 1st line minutes.
He's been right around 20 goals for the past two seasons. He had a down year last year as you said. I am not sure it's outlandish to think that he could potentially hit the 25-27g mark. 30 is a bit much and very hard to do nowadays, so will agree that's over the top, but I'd wager he's in the 20s somewhere barring a big regression. Fair? |

Signing your RFA's hardly constitutes "sweeping changes."
And out of all the roster additions, the only good piece is the Swede that he was gifted with 1OA.
Nicely done. |

If you honestly believe that Buffalo got 5 premium assets for O'Reilly, than you are just plain dumb. Two solid assets (Thompson & 1st), a 2nd that is in 2021 and that pick won't even impact the league until maybe 2023 if ever, and two salary dumps on guys that are decent but not very good players. Just because you play in the NHL doesn't make you a premium asset. |

I think that's a very fair assessment. Plus, he'll be getting top power play time. I think he'll be good for 25 goals. But, with his size he's probobly not going to play a full 82 games. |

Oh yeah, I think he will work well together with Eichel. However, I think 25 is probably the most he could do at the peak of his career, with both him and Eichel playing together the whole season and playing at least almost every game. 20-23 is more likely for a "better" season and 16-19 for a more typical season. He is a good player and will help the Sabres but he is not going to score 30 goals and I would be shocked if he breaks 25. If the Pens staff thought he was capable of hitting 30 he would never have been traded. |
