I'd leave too if my GM signed Beagle for 4 years/3M per.

And Marleau at 3yrs/18.7mil as a 38 yr old was a genius move

I don't love that deal either. Two years would have been ideal. At least he scored 20+ last year. Beagle is a faceoff specialist, replacement in almost every other category.

Same. Didn't love it. One year too long

Having said that, Marleau was amazing in the playoffs, and pretty solid in the regular season too. Also an active mentor to a team full of kids

Comparing this to the Beagle signing is pretty funny

Both are a year too long and a couple mil more than they should've paid - solid comparison

Apparently Linden wanted to take on Bad Contracts in exchange for Draft picks and prospects akin to what the Coyotes have done and what the Leafs did in the early stages of their rebuild

Aquilini didn't want to throw his real life $$ at players who weren't going to produce so, Bennings vision was drafting youth and signing/playing FA's like Beagle and Roussel

Lindens way was better long term as it would get the team more assets but Aquilini didn't want to spend his money on doing it
