we Jets fans aren't looking to go for a beer with the man, we just like how he plays hockey and are hoping to come to a mutually beneficial arrangement for him to do that in Winnipeg.
the Jets are better with him in the lineup. |

Has there been any hints or suggestions from Morrissey about whether he prefers a longer or shorter term deal? What is he looking for? |

Pretty subjective statement. All depends on what his return would yield. Chevy generally wins his trades.
As for Morrissey, I am hoping we can skip the bridge deal and lock him up for something in the neighbourhood of 6 yr at 4.75M AAV. I see him as a better version of Enstrom (in his prime), who is exactly the kind of player we need paired with Buff. The kid would have a hard time passing that kind of guaranteed money, after a 5 year battle to burn that rookie contract. |

Fans defense favourites? Kind of sounds like a very facetious or opined statement. So, the Fan favourites were / are Myers / Chiarot, who Pete obviously doesn't like and the fans most un-favourite defenseman must have been Enstrom, who media and Pete loved and defended and promoted at every breath or key stroke. |

Well said Charlie. Enstrom was a nightmare last season and even worse in the playoffs. Myers was a stud. Chariot was still somewhat of a tire fire but a least a much-improved one vs his previous year. |

There is no question about Trouba's talent. He would help improve most teams overall defense. That said, I believe he has shown through is last 2 contract negotiations that his main concern will always be about the money. So enjoy his last full season in Winnepeg. Unless Chevy backs up the Brinks truck to him, he will again go through arbitration so that he can become a UFA as soon as possible. |

I have posted this many times before. Defense is an overrated position in the NHL. The last 3 Stanley Cup Champions have proven that. Especially considering that Kempny, Hainsey, Schultz were on their top pairings.
Center is where teams need depth. I would trade Trouba in a heartbeat if a team offered up a number 1 center. Something I hope that happens. |

Petan has signed - bennythehat
The minimal money ( less in AHL ) and the term is a pretty good indication of where he fits in the Jets scheme of things. Personally, I'm cheering for the kid but the reality is that we have a lot of very good players and it's going to be a difficult road for him.
The prospects that I believe have the most potential as quickly rising stars that remain in the Jet's talent pool are Vesalainen and Niku. Sanberg might surprise as well in about two years time. |

Agreed on Petan.
I would add in Appleton and it's way too early to write off Stanley. |

I wasn't ignoring those guys, or Lemieux and some others. I was just singling out the "rising stars" as opposed to prospects with promise.
As for Petan. His single best chance on the Jets is actually between Laine and Ehlers based strictly on his undeniable passing skills and vision. I just don't see him as much as a fit anywhere else. In order to play with those two guys the center needs to be very good defensively. So hopefully he will come to camp and has improved on those defensive liabilities in a big way. I also question Petan's speed at the NHL level. Can he keep up with his opposing centers , many which have blazing speed.

desperate for a little hockey and was watching the Jr showcase Canada vs Sweden. Particularly on Canada PP the frequent low quality shots from the perimeter were frustrating. So many players are either not comfortable holding the puck while looking to make a play creating offense or are playing to the analytics that show high shot totals and attempts as a positive. Wasted PP time, particularly in the 1st and 2nd in spite of being able to win puck battles on the boards. |

Thinking about Jets forward lines with Roslovic at #2c.
Connor-Scheiffle-Wheeler
Perreault-Roslovic-Laine
Ehlers-Petan-Little
Copp-Lowry-Tanev
The strong 1st line is intact,
Roslovic has proven ability to play with star players and Perreault will provide veteran leadership, puck retrieval, defense and overall high quality game. Laine will be free to be Laine, he will be forced to skate hard to keep up and will have support on the defensive side
Ehlers has speed that can make things happen all by himself and he can use that speed even if his linemates are a step behind. Little and Petan have good hockey smarts and are creative enough to be a threat. Petan has a respectable 2-way play and will have opportunity to create with offensive players. Little will have his bounce-back year while mentoring and taking key faceoffs (I see a shared center role between Petan/Little)
Jets could really use another right handed forward, maybe a hockey trade is in order, LW for RW. Copp or Tanev are moveable, there are others that could be moved. Who gets moved depends on who we are trading for and what the other team really wants. I don't want to get bogged down on available RW players as there are probably 40 or 50 that someone could make a case for. |

It seems the social media consensus is that Laine and Ehlers should be split up with the periodic caveat that placing Scheiffle back between them might be worth revisiting. With that in mind and coincidental with that would be reigniting the past success that Little and Wheeler have had.
Laine-Scheiffle-Ehlers
Connor-Little-Wheeler
Perreault-Roslovic-Petan
Copp-Lowry-Tanev
Roslovic and Petan have had success together and Perrault would provide the stability needed to minimize the potential growing pains of bringing that success from the AHL to the NHL......

Like these lines!! And I know it won’t be popular but I’d also like Lemieux to take tanev’s spot in 4th line

Those are good lines. Could also experiment switching Roslovic and Little - I think Roslovic has potential to thrive with Connor and Wheeler. Perreault-Little-Petan would be a versatile/reliable third line.
I don't see any reason to hurry Lemieux into a fourth line role. He is not a big step up or down from the three that are there and Tanev has been very consistent with his level of compete and energy. Copp, Tanev, Lemieux and more are all interchangeable as needed for injury fill ins or trades. For now it looks like the Jets have committed to going with Copp/Lowry/Tanev on the fourth. |

Tanev draws a ton of penalties. Lemieux is quite the opposite. He tends to take a lot of penalties. The difference could be game changers. Tanev is also a lot faster. They both have drive and heart . I definitely lean towards Tanev in that fourth line role. |
