This , not the first time an article like this pops up , but it seems a constant that prospect guru's overlook the team's avg age in correlation with the pipeline. I mean if Dubois and Werensky didn't pan out as teenagers and required more development, pretty sure the cbj would be much higher on that list.

I would say the hockey news takes that factor into account when they do a pipeline ranking.

Don't put too much stock in the first article.. they had the Canucks pipeline rated at #3? Really? A team that looked to finally have started a long needed rebuild this summer, only to sign a bunch of depth players to contracts with term and have Linden leave.

A prospect pool featuring 4 blue chip players (Demko, Juolevi, Pettersson and Hughes) and quality depth (Lind, DiPietro, Gadjovich, Woo, Gaudette, etc) deserves that high of a ranking. Who else would you put ahead of them?

UFA signings (poor or not) and Linden leaving have nothing to do with the quality of their pipeline.

Exactly right, so in essence organizational health isn't a single measure based on prospects coming up the pipeline, which, in turn, should prompt concerned readers to relax and look at the bigger picture.

Well panarin can be traded for a farm system in New York. Looks like the jackets need center depth so the rangers should be able help that out

My thoughts exactly. I would put the Canucks prospect pool as middle of the road.. 10-15 or so. Most of these kids don't have that much proximity to the NHL. Isn't that what defines a deep prospect pool?

dubois , wennberg, nash , sedlak/dubinsky give or take, I think they will fine and Foligno can always pitch in if needed.

You're hoping Dubois doesn't hit the sophomore slump; Wennberg is more like he was in '16-17, not what he was in '17-18; Nash steps up for solid 2nd/3rd line minutes/points; Sedlak takes a BIG step forward; and Dubi . . . ?, well I guess he can't get worse, so he has to be better. (But I would try to include him in a trade.)
Atkinson bounces back and gets 60 pts again.
Foligno proves that '14-15, and '16-17 weren't flukes, and that he can put up points.
Bjorkstrand will probably be about the same. If he can consistently light it up, that will be a HUGE boost to the offense.
Jenner contributes something from the start of the season, and not just the last 6 weeks !

After Panarin there's not much scoring from the forward group.

Get Panarin signed - or trade him !! I know JK hates to trade within conference, but of teams that Panarin would sign with, or sign & trade with, Florida has the best combination of players/prospects that would fit CBJ needs.
