That’s a no brainer. But, there will 100% be at least one player who was drafted after someone who has a better career. Of course. But you can not deny that the “best players” get picked before the less best players, unless the GM’s are idiots.

I don’t get why this is even a discussion. I’m not advocating tanking, only saying that the likelihood of getting a better player goes up when you pick earlier in the draft.

No tanking did. If you're not down in the bottom six or seven you only have a very marginal chance to pick top five. Tanking gave them the best odds.

To far vintsy, current veteran leadership it's's not as good as last year's, but Bunning is crafty so it'll work out

It’s better this year because of all the mentoring the Sedins have done over the past four seasons, and I agree, Benning is crafty. He and his team identified the best qualities in the available UFA group and then swooped in and got below market value on all of them.

It's not about being bad for a long time, it's about moving up in any one draft. Also, i'd think Buffalo has been worse over the past 4 seasons.

As an aggregate yes, but in any one season they were never the worst. Each time they ended up picking in their most likely position. It’s all Linden’s fault, his work with the PA pissed off the NHL years ago and that was the payback. Now that he’s gone things will turn around.

It was in the best interest of the player and club to have him go on LTIR, in Lu's case the club won't lose anything keeping him around and might want him to mentor a young goalie. Lu could say (frank) it and retire, putting the recapture on the Canucks.
