I don't disagree with most of that top ten, but I'd maybe put Couture back in there in place of Shattenkirk.

The Kings drafted Hickey at 4. What a waste of a pick that was. Not as bad as 2008 where the Kings drafted Colten Tuebert instead of ERIK KARLSSON. Imagine a top pair of Doughty and Karlsson.

To be fair to you guys, picks 5-14 all made a bad decision in the 2008 draft and PK Subban was taken just after Eric Tangradi in the 2nd round of the 2007 draft at #43. Drafting isn't easy. lol

True, the should haves are endless for every team. Just that pick was a huge miss considering Karlsson went like 2 picks after. I will say though, when you do the 2008 list I won’t be surprised if the majority is dmen.

Sure but you'd think it would be a little easier in hindsight. Voracek over patches is a no brainer by every metric.

"Giving 8 Figures to Childrens Hospital" and "Pledging to Raise 8 Figures" are two totally different things

They are both good, but it's a significant distinction and it bug me when reports are sloppy as to what exactly PK has done in this case

What do you mean, "wut?" That crystal clear analogy didn't make sense to you?

Everything is easier hindsight, what are you talking about?

Yes, Voracek every day of the week over Pacioretty.

I actually thought this list was pretty solid. Granted I only watch the pens on a consistent basis, so my actual understanding of players, especially western conference players, is lacking.

"Giving 8 figures" is PK cashing his salary, paying taxes, then at the end of the year writing a check for "XXX" Dollars out of his own pocket to "Childrens Hospital"

"Pledging to raise" is PK hosting golf tournaments, $500 per plate dinners and relying on the donations of others, in his name to "Raise" 8 figures

Childrens Hospital gets the money either way, and PK deserves credit, but one is significantly more of a personal sacrifice than the other

Good list, still #9 Shattenkirk (which doesn't provide too much defense for his bucks) tells already a lot about this draft...

Yes, Voracek every day of the week over Pacioretty.

Voracek is a great assister, but Patches has 5 30goal-seasons where Voracek hasn't even a single one above 25... Saturdays, Mondays and Thursdays i would go with Patches! And he has a good season in him, GMJR please make him Malkin's wing...

Angelo Esposito. LOL

Him and Logan MacMillan were total 1st round busts. Still can't believe what happened to Angelo. He was supposed to be a good player and an important piece to the Canada National youth teams.

Pacioretty and Voracek are a wash IMO. They are in the same talent class although Voracek has better hands and vision. Max is a sniper.

Regardless it was an amazing gesture to help sick kids. It's pretty sad that you are passive aggressively try to make him look like he didn't do something great for sick children because you want to justify a terrible hockey trade made by a terrible GM who is employed by a terrible team. PK is the man and that deal was one of the worst of the last 20 years. Deal with it...

The trade was bad the day it was made and everyone outside of Montreal knew it. It helped soften that division which I definitely appreciate as a fan..

I have to agree that while it's a noble sacrifice, it's not the same thing as a straight up cash donation. It's a larger scale, but not that different than you or I participating in a bottle drive, bake sale, or some other form of donating our time to help a cause. Personally I do this because I don't have the cash to spare but still want to help. PK does this because he too wants to give back, but these events are the foundation of his post hockey career. He's the next Don Cherry.. minus the insanity of course.

I like PK but he's very overrated. I wouldn't trade Letang for him straight up.

I thought the same thing, Voracek has more impressive point totals, but Pacioretty's goal totals are hard to ignore.

There aren't a lot of players I'd trade Letang for straight up to be honest.

Exactly? Which is why the author should have gotten it right 11 years later and put vorachek above Pacioretty.
