All-time franchise leader Bobby Clarke's 852 regular season assists are likely unattainable for the 30-year-old Giroux.

Damn, 852 assists in 15 seasons, that's an average of 56.8 assists per season. If you take out his rookie and 2nd seasons, when he really didn't have any high end wingers to work with, he averaged a ridiculous 60.4 assists per season over 13 years.

That's unreal!

I think Giroux will get to 1,000 points, I just hope it is as a Flyer. I have a feeling 4 seasons will go a lot quicker than I ever thought when he signed that contract.

If Giroux can stay relatively healthy over the next 4 seasons, I think he will be somewhere around 325 goals, 675 assists and 1000 or so points by the end of the 21-22 season. That's pretty damned impressive.

re Mt. Puckmore for the Flyers:

If including anyone involved in the Franchise: Ed Snider, Keith Allen, Bobby Clarke, Fred Shero
-had to give Shero the edge over Bernie Parent but it was a really tough call. The other 3 are gimmes.

Players only: Bobby Clarke, Bernie Parent, Bill Barber, Eric Lindros
-it's hard to leave Mark Howe off, but Lindros for about 5 or so years was simply the best player in the game and Barber was part of 2 Cup teams and arguably the best left winger of his era.

Re: Puckmore

In the other thread I threw LeClair into the replacement group. And after reading Bill's blog just now I'm ashamed I didn't think about Howe. I still think it's hard to argue with the four that were selected, but had they chosen Howe instead of Lindros/Hextall I'd have a hard time arguing against that, too.

According to the "Eye Test" for Claude Giroux...

- He is not considered one of the best centers because he played left wing last year
- He is not considered one of the best wingers because he played center most of his career
- Giroux only gets points because of the others he plays with, but everyone on the Flyers suck and are overrated

I do find it odd that for the Flyers Puckmore has 2 goalies on it....but the Flyers never had a good goalie since Parent.

If Giroux passes Bill Barber in points, he should be a Hall of Famer.

Also, Greg Wyshynski sucks at writing about hockey. He should thank his upright walking god, buddha, or whatever that he earns a living doing it.

Also, for Howe to not even receive an honorable mention pretty much torpedoes the list's credibility.

As soon as you saw Greg Wyshnyski's name, the list's credibility was gone.
