Can the canucks hand them another thumping like last year
- Bettmanhatesus

Sure, some of the top teams tend to take nights off against bottom feeders, especially during the middle or later part of the season.

I remember when the Canucks used to do it all the time against bad teams when they were one of the elites.

How do we know why they traded him to the West? I mean for sure? Anyone who thinks Dorion is working independently without Melnyk’s input is fooling themselves. He probably wanted as little salary back as possible, just a guess though.

Melnyk is controlling Dorion as much as Aquilini is controlling Benning. A lot!

It was inferred from the past behavior, various tweets from insiders, and the conditions set out in the trade.

They were pretty upset that Hoffman ended up in their own division, that was clear, so they make another deal and have the clause put in that it would cost a 1st round pick to trade him to the East. I am not saying Dorion was doing this by choice, but the Ottawa franchise made a poor deal limiting themselves to half the league in addition to ensuring that the clause was added. Nothing gets added to a deal for free

I think there’s a lot more to this than what it appears on the surface. As I said, IMO Melnyk is pulling the strings here regarding what kind of return he wants $$

I'm guessing a couple of teams probably wanted them to take some salary back and that was a deal-breaker for them. Tampa for sure was one of those teams.

Hilarious part is that they're still stuck with Ryan

Melnyk is way too cheap to buy him out

I am sure there is, such as WAG lawsuit between Karlsson/Hoffman, Melnyk's money, new arena, etc., but I have a hard time believing that an Eastern team couldn't have made a better offer

Ya, it really depends on the parameters Melnyk gave him. He got six assets and brought back next to nothing in salary and he retained zero salary.

I think they could’ve got a better player for right now, but I don’t think they wanted that. Dollars in and out appear to be of the utmost importance right now to Eugene.

It’s just a strange set of circumstances there right now.

With Ottawa likely moving to Quebec City, I guess the Flames are going to Kansas City.

draw up a few possible trades and let's discuss them
- Nucker101

Wasn't Stone awarded his current contract by arbitration this off season? Pretty sure you can't trade a player in the same year they were awarded a contract by arbitration.

Ah, roger that. I thought it was awarded because the number they settled on was closer to the player ask than the team ask.

How can it be one word when you said two words to express one word . It really should be 3 words .

Melnyk is just tearing down that franchise brick by brick. They’ll come out of it one day but it’s gonna take five years of drafting. Something they do well, thankfully for Sens fans.

They are moving the team to downtown Ottawa. Stripping salary to sell the team, but not out of town. That's what I've read multiple Journalists write anyway. I'd be surprised to see any team move, let alone Ottawa.
