This is so stupid. MTL will finish bottom five and Weber will be traded this trade deadline or next. No way he sticks around for the rebuild... he'll be what?... 50?
Don't name a captain at all. Look at the leafs. Made a captain for the sake (Phaneuf) and also to make the trade look better (..ehem.. subban/weber).. and it was a waste of time and a disgrace to the C really. Just no. - The_Big_Heen
I agree that due to his age Weber might be used as a trade asset for the rebuild.
However Gallagher at 26 with his work ethics would be a fine candidate.

I doubt MB was given the green light to go "all-in" for a full rebuild, they'll probably want to keep a skilled veteran or 2 to support the kids (unless they're now counting on Plekanec for this -lol). Weber isn't just a pillar for this D, he's basically their only hope.
I like Gallagher but Habs fans have to stop crying about the refs not being fair. If you remove your Habs glasses and view him as the rest of the league does, he is pretty much on par with Marchand and the other players that "walk the line." His grit is great, his emotion and work ethic are good for the team...but people in Montreal have to stop constantly crying foul when he gets called for things he should get called for.

Weber and Price will be there for the "reset", Bergevin already said the team will be led by those two
