The fact that they haven't signed Wood yet I guess could play into it. Karlsson would put this team on different level.

It's been so long since this team has had a great defenseman that I forget what it's like.

I think Todd's suggested trade is in line with what the team would offer. Maybe a choice of Boqvist or McLeod. Might be more realistic if NJ agrees to take on Bobby Ryan

It would be great to have EK65 on the team, but only if there's an extension that goes with it.

I said this a looong time ago with those same players involed, just saying...

BUT, Butcher, EK and Ty.. are you kidding me?!

Nico and Hall?!

Mojo and Palms?!

Bratt and Zacha?!

This could turn out to be the most talented team we ever had.

Ray has probably been thinking too much about Butcher and Karlsson together or separately QBing PP Units. I mean it is a pretty nice dream, Hall-Nico-Palms, Butcher and Karlsson as a stacked PP unit, but it will probably only remain a pretty nice dream.

I dont think that package would be enough. Unless of course all the major players with better pieces to offer back out, then I could see Dorion doing a Dorion thing and taking a subpar offer.

Lol people who say this package isn't enough, do you realize that the return for Karlsson come July 1st is zero? Karlsson is like a leap option for those who follow stocks. Furthermore a deal hasn't been completed because Ottawa feels the return isn't as great as anticipated. This has nothing to do with Karlsson's talent and all to do with his expiring shelf life.

Severson, Wood and 1st round draft pick.

There are a ton of moving parts to this deal including extending Karlsson, possibly taking back Bobby Ryan's contract, and of course you can add in other picks.

I thought Max Pacioretty ended up in a reasonable trade and signing a reasonable contract. I don't expect the same to happen with Karlsson. After seeing what Ottawa ponied up for Duchene, I think they'll want a return as unreasonable as Sakic.

I'm not sure why this comes across as an unusual destination....I'd say it's exactly what the Devils need to put them into the next level.
My guess is that Ottawa is still trying to get someone to gag down Booby Ryans contract, and quite honestly, if he were ever going to try and resurrect some sort of a career, his hometown makes some sense.

Dorian absolutely needs to hit this trade outta the park because the Duchene deal may down in history as the worst trade ever made if Colorado ends up with Hughes.

After all this goes down, Dorian will be fired.

I wouldn't disagree that this isn't an overwhelming offer. However, when it becomes well documented that a player wants out and a team NEEDS to trade him...well, then the majority of the league holds you hostage. So I wouldn't be surprised if the return for Ott is underwhelming but, perhaps a little better than this package.

If you think about it, the Devils have a lot of repetitive pieces in their system.

Zacha and McLeod --> both can be anywhere between 2nd line or 3rd line center and on occasion some 1st line duty if needed. Essentially one of these guys will be Zajac's replacement.

Wood and Bratt --> both show some flashes where you can see them in top 6 but they lack consistency. Both can also bottom out and be bottom 6 or worse.

Muller and Santini --> bottom 6 stay at home defensemen or something more? The only difference is shooting.

THis might be stupid to actually hear, but EK will be a Devil because NJ is great to raise a family and it has 4 nice seasons.

He aint going to Vegas to raise a kid in 115 weather, only staying inside his mansion all year around.

I know it sounds stupid, but I think this off ice stuff plays a huge factor into a family man like EK. He knows #30 stayed his whole career, patty, Scotty. This stuff means alot.

Also, no one other than us are talking as NJ a destination which is prob at Shero's request, doing the Lou thing, which if i am right, means this is seriously going down.

This is optimistic but I can't imagine it holds any weight in a discussion that most likely revolves around business

Bob McKenzie is stating that EK65 will most likely end up with a western conference team.

Normally yes, but considering EK has a list of teams he'll sign with, that pushes Ottawa to make a deal on his terms, mostly.

ALSO, everyone on this green earth, including SHero knows not doing anything besides losing players in offseason is backwards for a team that needs to go up, UNLESS EK was in his plans and he was pretty confident he would get him.

Would be a deadly pickup for NJ. If they think they could sign him, why not take a swing?

Butcher + Zacha + Johansson

Something along those lines might work

I grew up in NJ. I love it. I will always defend it when seemingly everyone else makes fun of it. But this is a stretch.
